The Wheel of Privilege? Sounds like a Channel 5 quiz show hosted by Lorraine Kelly. ‘Round and round it goes, where it stops—middle-class guilt explodes!’
My idea? The Norfolk Index of Advantage. Includes factors like: number of turtlenecks owned, frequency of Waitrose shop, and whether your dog has a gluten intolerance!
I am a cis-gender straight white male in the United States earning a six figure salary and only 100k left on my mortgage.
My job is not stable but neither at immediate risk that I am aware of. But not being union protected I wouldn't know until I'm being told to her out.
I am significantly disabled in a visually apparent way with several features well outside of established beauty standards. I am an atheist and have an unconventional (polyamorous) lifestyle.
So I am very privileged but so have some challenges. The aspects that people would target me for tend to be non-apparent unless they know me. The disability is largely in mobility and access, but the fact that I work and try to get around on my own tends to foster more sympathy and respect than animosity.
Despite having clear disadvantages I consider myself overall to be fairly highly privileged.
@SwampFlower It basically gives a better view of your level of privilege in the United States. In seven out of thirteen of those fields, I have maximum privilege. In a couple of them, I have the least amount of privilege possible. As such, it evens out. I have medium privilege.
