A letter to the Boomer generation in light of the current economic crisis

Dear Boomers,

I heard your retirement funds have taken a bit of a hit. I would like to offer some advice :

Pull yourself up by your bootstraps; hard work pays off.

Stop buying so much avocado toast and fancy lattes.

Get an entry level job to get your foot in the door.

Walk into some stores and hand them your resume.

Live within your means, cut out the fancy stuff.

Save every penny, put it in a savings account and watch it grow.

Quit wasting money on all those subscription services.

Just walk into your bosses office and ask for a raise.

Pack a lunch, you don't need to eat out.

Put $20 a week in a jar, you'll be surprised how fast it adds up.

Hope this helps.

Yours sincerely,

Each following generation that you've fuсked over.

Oh very clever. Very smug. Mocking Boomers with the same advice they dished out for decades. Let me asses some of your critiques.

Put $20 in a jar? Right. I did that once with loose change and a scratchcard—ended up with £6.38 and a wasp infestation. Real boomer advice, please.

Stop buying avocado toast? I haven’t seen an avocado since 1999, and that was in the ‘exotic items’ section of a Little Chef. I’m living off crisps and regret.

Yes, Boomers had it easier—but they also lived through four decades of beige food and Mike Yarwood. That’s trauma you can’t put a price on!

Overall, this post reads like it was written by someone who thinks poverty is a vibe and the economy can be fixed with a reusable coffee cup and smugness. Try being skint in a service station in Thetford with only a Nectar card and a sachet of mustard. Then talk struggle!

@LordShadowfire First of all there is a difference between equal rights and special rights. Grown men with penises have never been welcomed in women’s bathrooms, and locker rooms NEVER
To ask that they be welcomed now is asking for special rights. This isn’t isolating or segregating anyone. It is simply a fact.

I am asking trans people to stand up and say that, although it might be a small percentage that these people will not be defended by the trans movement. Please tell me that you agree that the trans woman in the Michigan high school was not asking for equal rights that they wanted to make a statement otherwise they would have rubbed their penis behind a closed door

Yes, there are a lot of women who are bigger built and stronger because of genetics not because they were born male This has never been considered an unfair advantage. A person born a male with male hormones is an unfair advantage. Caitlyn Jenner has said that exact same thing and because she is speaking out “ against “ something trans. She is dismissed and silenced by the trans community. She knows exactly what she’s talking about.

I don’t think there were too many conservatives who didn’t want Roe overturned. American citizens are not being polled out of their homes and deported. People who are being deported either have deportation orders from other courts, or there’s evidence that they don’t belong in this country. The man from Maryland had been ordered deported under the Biden administration, but because there was no one at the courthouse to make sure that he left he was able to walk right back in and live The 1 court sad. He shouldn’t be deported back to El Salvador, but not that he wasn’t supposed to be deported. You cannot force El Salvador to send one of their citizens back. If the president of El Salvador wants to do that, the Trump administration will make sure there’s a plane for him to be returned but as I understand it the president of El Salvador is saying no he is not going to send him back

@missyann So out of one side of your mouth you say:
please don’t ever call me a liar again. I don’t lie.
Then, out of the other side of your mouth, you say:
Nobody is taking rights away...
I'm not bothering with the rest of your comment, because it's all based on a lie.

@LordShadowfire OK I was wrong I did not realize that it was legal for trans women to use women’s restrooms locker rooms and changing rooms and more than a dozen states. So yes, I am filing that right because I don’t believe that it should be a law. But I am saying that you have a right to your own personal space you should not be forced to use men’s facilities.

Call it discrimination or segregation if you want but it is a fact that no grown men with male anatomy have the right, so I’m sorry I don’t think any grown persons with the same male anatomy as men should have the right either

I guess since trans women have been allowed to participate in women’s sports that is also a right that I am fighting but again I hope they that there will be a category where you can compete with women who want to, and there will be nothing wrong with that There will be an audience to watch it because people do want to see trans. Women be able to compete in sports. Just on an even level. The same as we don’t make those in middle school compete against college athletes. Because the advantage would be with the college athletes.

So yeah, maybe we are trying to take something away but we’re also giving something in return. If no one votes to kick you out meaning you won’t be forced to leave. Should someone be forced to stay? Can women who are opposed to these laws have the right to start a category they’re comfortable with and building bathrooms and locker rooms that they are comfortable being in. If someone isn’t forced to leave should someone be forced to stay?

Hey, that’s how we lived to get where we are and we know that somehow we are going to survive. We have survived, recession, and then turned around and spoiled our children and grandchildren That was our mistake.

@missyann you got it girl
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@missyann @oldguy73 Actually, you people survived by pulling the ladder up behind you, so that those strategies no longer work. But thanks for playing.

They are the “I’ve got mine” generation.

@LordShadowfire I just want to be clear on what you are saying. Are you saying that you would vote for someone who you believed was is morally bankrupt in one of the most important issues to you because they supported one thing you believed in. I don’t think that would be a responsible wrote.

Until now When has the law ever allowed a grown man with a penis demand to use a women’s restroom or locker room When has this ever been a safe request?
This isn’t discriminatory. It is a fact that if a person has a penis, no matter how much make up or women’s clothes, they wears he is still biologically a male. Women have never been expected to accept this, and they should not be expected now to end it truly is not our place to make them feel comfortable

Disabled people have their own Olympics. It’s called Special Olympics. Is it discriminatory to tell someone with one leg that if they want to compete in Olympic games that they have to compete against a person with two legs in a foot race ?
No, this is why they have their own category called the Special Olympics so they can fairly compete in their own category. Someone who is disabled and missing a limb is not another species. They are human beings with special needs Trans people do you deserve to play sports and compete but someone born a biological male has no business competing against biological females. I they are human beings with special needs. I know you understand what I am saying

Call me a bigot all you want if someone asks me to call them, Paul or Paula, I will respectfully do that and will stand and defend anyone against unprovoked personal violent attacks no matter who they are. Personal opinions and words are not violent unless there’s a threat.
No one has the right to tell someone what or who they have to accept and like and people don’t have to justify their reasons

I do agree that they are definitely issues with the affordable care act, and did not present better options and his first time and still hasn’t. No one can see what a different Social Security program looks like yet. Damn DOGE it’s just getting started. Whether you want to admit it or not, he’s found some crazy spending and waste.

You and I see things different. I see a man who has failed numerous times, but still found the way to make $1 billion. If someone gave me $1 million there’s no way I could turn that into a billion. I. See a man who used what the government legally allowed him to use. Hell yeah I want this guy financially running my country

We just disagree on what is wasteful spending and I have a feeling that’s not going to change

No “ I’ve got mine “ was never a slogan, for my generation meant like generations before we believe that if things were good for us that they were going to be better for you. One important thing that I think everybody is overlooking is technology, although has been wonderful in a lot of areas and I’ve saved a lot of lives but it has destroyed millions of jobs that used to be them by people and now we have machines doing the work.

Go to YouTube and listen to the song

Zagar & Evans and tell me that it’s not eerie to know that these guys had insight.
Can you see how very close we actually are

And yet you voted for a man I consider morally bankrupt in every aspect of his life. He lies. He cheats. He literally just tanked the stock market so he could make a few bucks on his shares. He's got you convinced that it's okay that he's coming for our social security. He's a thief and a grifter, but you voted for him to take away women's rights. Which he will, right after he's done stripping trans people of their rights.

I was about to respond to the rest of your comment, but you lost the last shred of my respect when you compared trans people to mentally disabled people in the Special Olympics.

@missyann “special Olympics”…LOL!

@LordShadowfire a lot of us are retiring, some of us early. My birth year is the last boomer. Social Security is not fraud. The fraud is paying out to dead people, illegal immigrants, ect.

Unfortunately, there are people who have to work well into their golden years and struggle, but this happens with every generation. People are living longer.

There may not be traditional social security as we know it today, but there will be something different for you guys
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@missyann Of course it's not fraud, but Elon pretends it is so he can steal it from you.
