Hilarious Trump market manipulation reaches anew height

I wonder when he closed his shotrs and opened longs.....

Here's his Truth Social statement in full:
"Based on the lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%, effective immediately.
At some point, hopefully in the near future, China will realize that the days of ripping off the U.S.A., and other Countries, is no longer sustainable or acceptable.
"Conversely, and based on the fact that more than 75 Countries have called Representatives of the United States, including the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and the USTR, to negotiate a solution to the subjects being discussed relative to Trade, Trade Barriers, Tariffs, Currency Manipulation, and Non Monetary Tariffs, and that these Countries have not, at my strong suggestion, retaliated in any way, shape, or form against the United States, I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period, of 10%, also effective immediately. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
We are continuing to decipher the specifics of Trump's announcement, stick with us for the latest.

I imagine the 90 day pause would be more to help US companies and interest make an orderly disengagement from China. Dismantling production in China and moving it to the US or elsewhere would take careful planning considering that the Chinese government could at any moment step in and proclaim a right to seize control of and possession of a factory or plant and even possession of all copyright, trademark and pattern rights.

Remember, Japan’s claim for justification for declaring war against the US was over trade. In Chinas case, their their unbalanced trade to serve the US consumers is the bread and butter of Chinas economy and they can be counted on to take extreme measures to rescue something as that comes apart..

I remember when in the late 60s or early 70s when the Mexican government decided to break their contract with Hilton International for operating their hotels. Forget whatever agreement they had, the Mexican army just showed up one day in force and forced Hilton staff to leave at gunpoint. A one minute transition of management. There is a similar risk in China. The US is well beyond the United Fruit gunboat diplomacy era, so beyond yelling and screaming, what else can the U S government do if that happens?

@isthisafakeprofile Do you want me to go on or are you depressed yet ? Same thing in the 80s when Japan and then Korea moved in on the market.
Briggett · T
@Captain china’s recalculation their position with the rest of world.
Just don’t default on interest payments now and in the future.
Captain · 61-69, M
@Briggett Yes deflation cojld be on the horizon.

Trump is the Man 👏
ffony · M
@Captain Einstein et al would probably have understood that I meant NOT being 'normal' can be a pre-requisite. I suspect you just enjoy disagreeing. Fill your boots.
Captain · 61-69, M
@ffony Oh I see, so violent asgreement then.
ffony · M
@Captain
so violent asgreement then.
Well maybe, I think, huh, or maybe not? Must be too 'nuanced' for me.

Hahaha you got all the people who blocked me all I see is "this message been deleted. " Yikes 🤣
Captain · 61-69, M
@SatanBurger Then relax, ease down a little. Some of your psts are quite amusing and sweet like th eone about whos blocked you but sometimes...
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Captain I post on the truth, I can write what I want.
Captain · 61-69, M
@SatanBurger Yep but your audience will listen better if you pitch it the right way, and I think yiou can. I also think the reason you don't is because the US is now such a fractured society and your leader is not the type to build bridges so... and of course its the most powerful fractured society in a fractured world looking for someone to give in some unity.

This definitely needs to be investigated.
JSul3 · 70-79
@Jokersswild Not by this DOJ.
TexChik · F
And yet, in bloody old England, you get arrested for Facebook posts.

I’ll stick with Trump.
Captain · 61-69, M
@TexChik I dont think inheritance as a system is compatible with the principals of the French Revolution - liberte, fraternite and eglaite. Its OK to work hard and collect weaith for yourself but for people to confer that wealth onto their children and give them an unfari advantage in life is against the principals of the French revolution and not fair. It doesnt even achieve the right results in society because it means the allocaiton of jobs isnt fair. Another flag Ive always borne is that there is no such thing as postive descrimination. Like it or not all descrimination is bad. Not even JMHO - this is an outcome off logical thought. If yuou call that socialist, then I am guilty as charged, but there's a hole in the thinking of everyone else's worl view
TexChik · F
@Captain Here people are free to make of their lives what they will. If you want a good life you have to work for it. Any state that believes all property belongs to them is a socialist tyrannical state. Another reason my ancestors sent the king packing
Captain · 61-69, M
@TexChik Im not syaing what youve earnt doesnt belogn to you, I am saying it is against the principle of equality of opportiunity thatyou should be able to give your own kinds a helping hand. That may not be a popular view, but it would ensure the brightest and most able progressed th farthest and ended up doing the most impprtant jobs. On that I know we will disagree, but I am a logical big picture person and that is th elogical conclusion. So rant all you like.

A few days left for a 2024 IRA contribution :)
RedBaron · M
Why do you consider this hilarious or funny in any way?
Captain · 61-69, M
@FreddieUK Was it, memory must be going. It was so funny though wasnt it ?
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@CaptainIt was very funny, I seem to recall. I sometimes remember the most random (using the word correctly) things but can't remember where my keys are. 😄
Captain · 61-69, M
@FreddieUK I know the feeling. I love the scene with the lie detector - I think that was my favourite.

This issue just shows how gutless the leaders of other countries are. They should have simply replied that they would sever alll diplomatic, economic, and military ties to the USA within the next 12 hours so that the result would be that the USA no longer exists as far as they are concerned.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@Diotrephes Thanks to the Republican Party, america's isolation is already underway. The new trading blocs won't need the US or its dollar.
International trade requires trust and rule of law - america has violated both, so can now go off and trade with itself
Captain · 61-69, M
@newjaninev2 Sadly true
Captain · 61-69, M
@calicuz I hear that and agree
JSul3 · 70-79
America First will end with America Alone.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Captain That's true, but it still doesn't explain why those Red Hats still support and cheer for the corruption.
JSul3 · 70-79
@MarkPaul Because until it arrives at their doorstep, they don't care.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@JSul3 The thing is, I'm not sure their doorstep will even be close enough for them to care.

@jshm2 But has he to his own objective, which was probably to get tariffs against the US reduced while installing higher ones aganst China. I do think no good ever comes of tariffs but I think hes achieved his initial objective... Lets wait 3 months and see what he does to Europe.

You know their made in China. 😂
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Northwest And, they're feeling proud because they got them on the cheap.
Captain · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul You think Trump doesnt tip off his cronies for backhanders and cronies. No one else used to release policy with announcements out of the blue.
