Trump is serious about running as J.D.'s VP in 2028. Eisenhower even thought about that in 1960 as a way around the 22nd Amendment.

First... J D Vance couldn't win.
Second... if everyone is in on it (wink-wink) and knows that it is Cry-Baby-trump who is actually running, that will sink the ticket. Only "the base" [33% and dropping] would knowingly support a fake-ticket.
Third... Cry-Baby-trump's ego won't allow him to run in a secondary role even if his dementia allows him to know the reason is to get him into the #1 seat.
Fourth... It is highly doubtful that ticket would make it through all the legal challenges.
Fifth... Cry-Baby-trump's age will eliminate him. Only those who believe he is going to live forever don't see the effects of his aging.

Sure, he could break his pledge. But if Vance were to get elected president because of that pledge, don't you think the MAGAs would be infuriated? He could kiss 2032 good-bye.
Personally, I think the way to do it would be a clean repeal of the 22nd Amendment. Let Clinton, Bush and Obama have another shot.
