Trump is serious about running as J.D.'s VP in 2028. Eisenhower even thought about that in 1960 as a way around the 22nd Amendment.

what's the point? it wouldn't be his agenda.

It would be when Vance resigns so Trump succeeds to the presidency. Trump would then nominate Vance to be Vice President.

That would be the "agenda" they would campaign on - so Trump could serve a third term without being elected as president.

That's the rumored work-around to the 22nd Amendment in discussion by those in Trump's circle.

@beckyromero why would Vance resign? I'm sure he wants to be the POTUS.

I think you are missing the point.

The idea they are banging about is that the two of them would CAMPAIGN on that pledge so that Trump could serve a third term.

@beckyromero OK fair enough. But how would Trump be able to force his resignation? He might decide against it.

Sure, he could break his pledge. But if Vance were to get elected president because of that pledge, don't you think the MAGAs would be infuriated? He could kiss 2032 good-bye.

Personally, I think the way to do it would be a clean repeal of the 22nd Amendment. Let Clinton, Bush and Obama have another shot.
