I am now aware of several universities around the globe modelling the economic impact of America disappearing from the global economy. I dont expect a quick answer. There are too many variables and several layers of "and then what happens"..But the important factor I see is that this isnt about America. Its about the rest of us..😷

@sunsporter1649 I want the americans to stop behaving like their friends the russians

@sunsporter1649 and yet you don't say why.

Neville Chamberlain tried to 'appease' Hitler, which was probably what the majority or Britons wanted. When that wasn't feasible NEVILLE CHAMBERLAIN DECLARED WAR ON GERMANY. I doubt any of us could have behaved much more rationally.

This reminds me of all the "friends" that people have that only use them when they can. All of a sudden when you quit paying the bills and supporting them they're no longer your friends.

If they were our friends they would not have had tariffs on US products all of these years. We have supported EU countries for years we have paid UN dues for poor countries for years. It's time for everyone to treat each other as friends if these countries came to the US and said hey we're not going to charge any tariffs on any of your products sent to our country president Trump's a businessman he would agree with this instantly if you don't charge us tariffs we're not going to charge you tariffs he has even said that but all you're doing is listening to liberal media talking points and believing the LIE.
What's happening now reminds me of the events before the attack on Pearl Harbor.
@sunsporter1649 'splain to us, sunstroke, why you think Tяump's policy of appeasing Putin will work out any better than Chamberlain's policy of appeasing Hitler.

@ElwoodBlues Your proposal to end the killing is....
@sunsporter1649 What is yours?

Yes that is the way he seems ot want it. No lessons learned from the late 1920s then - or more accurately all lessons forgotten from the late 1920s then.

As long as The Constitution stands, all relations can be restored, with added language to ensure this never happens again.

I think Trump goes and NATO is straught back with its begging bowl at the front door of the Whitehouse, but think about how weakend we will all be !
Captain · 61-69, M
@SinlessOnslaught No I think the damage has just started to be done. If no ww3 comes in the next 4 years where will NATO be then and how much will Russia have been allowed to take back for tits own by then, and how much more powerful than us will they then be again ? And without US tech behin Europe how much more backward will Europe be. And with US high tech backing for Russia how much more paowerful will they be. Trump seems to be playing risk - in risk if you want to threaten Europe you take control of Greenland and Iceland. Think of the mining wealth of Greenland - what is happening is brutal by Trump - and extraordinary. Making an alliance with Russia against Europe. Did anyne foresee that whole scenario ? Its mostly a carve up of th eriches of the artic as far as I can see. How does he deal with Canada - this the next part of the puzzle ...
@Captain Europe isn't backward, human beings are backward and the US needs to realize that and get along. Poland is currently amassing the largest army in the world. If the US keeps betraying average people and calling them backwards and leaving them to die, someday, it will happen to us.
Captain · 61-69, M
@SinlessOnslaught Yes but the US is the biggest market in the world, and its policy to Europe is to stop Europe trading with Vhina, the second biggest market in the world. And now with the Greenland move and the Ukraine move, its doing a land grab with its new "friend"Russia for all the biggest natural resouces Europe has as its disposal. This is where Trump is taking the world. to an appeased Russia and the US holding all the resource we know about worth having in the northern hemispherre and Europe a broken ecomic unit with possibly an aggresive loss of land and poeples to an expansive Russia. People are only just wking up in Britain to the realisation that "our" trident missles are acutally the US 's property in all but name because we are not allowed to use them without the US's sanction. We do not have an independant nuclear deterrent. We trusted the US and Trump is playing that card against us. This is his worl wide game of risk and because nobody thought it would happen, from his point of view it will happen and he will win. I think he's wrong, becuase the lessons of 1928 say he's wrong, and Hume wa sright about the wealth of nations, but hes playing the isolationist card on acid and hiding that in the open. And no one wins here even medium term.
America has their big friend

@badminton I agree that will be necessary. But I am not seeing the will😷

@badminton
Way too much apathy in the USA for any American to even concern themselves about Trump/Vance/Musk.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@swirlie I fear you may be right. Until its too late of course. Then they will look for someone else to blame.😷

Trump has no friends in his private life so why would he make the USA any different than what works for himself?

@Reason10 Correction: we USED TO BE the world police force. We have abdicated leadership of the free world. We are currently making deals with the biggest protection racket mobster on the planet, trying to divvy up the territories.

I guess they think the US can have friends, so long as those friends aren't Jews.
Correction: Jewish Americans STRONGLY supported Harris in 2024: Reform (84 percent), Conservative movement (75 percent), and non-denominational/unaffiliated Jews (70 percent).

And there's this: Almost 2/3 of American Jews oppose Trump’s Gaza displacement plan
The Voice of the Jewish People report, published Thursday by the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI), found that 59 percent of American Jews said they are against such a plan, while just 17% approve.

You, @Reason10, are the poster child for
The trouble with our conservative friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so.
