USAid spent under $22 Billion last year.

It was 0.3% of federal spending. Cutting USAid is not about saving money. Cutting USAid has already killed many people.

This might be an unpopular view, but until a country can properly look after it's own people it should not engage in any foreign aid operations.
@zonavar68 The two have never been mutually exclusive.
@zonavar68 And it has never been about not being able to look after their own people in the US. Your political class has taken a deliberate decision not to.

That’s $22 Billion that the US doesn’t have and has to be borrowed from somewhere or covered by deleting the value of the greenback.

When a bank makes a loan, in the contract are the details of how that loan will be repaid as well as details if the lborrower defaults.

How will that $22 Billion be repaid? How will the $36Trillion debt be repaid?
@Heartlander it's very inexpensive goodwill. We partnered with nonprofits like Feed the Children who paid for a lot of it. . The spending was passed by Congress. The courts already overturned the dismissals. The damages done. People have died because of it. Children mostly. Why would one of the first cuts be something so inexpensive and results in the deaths of children? Corporate welfare untouched.

Not to mention what our Bad Will is doing already. Moody's taking away the AAA rating. Japan is divesting its US debt which will devalue the dollar and could easily cause a recession and inflation. Canada banned American liquor. Denmark canceling military spending with the the US (with Europe most likely following suit) All because of Trump's erratic behavior and threats of tariffs, and kill switches on fighter jets, etc.

@MarmeeMarch exactly! I'm glad we actually agree that nations need to stick together against threats like the Nazi's.
You are right that it is not about money. What is much more likely is that they will roll it into some dark corner of the State Department with zero transparency like it was decades ago.

Aid and US bases are in countries to manipulate that country.
