"Conservatives" clearly have no clue when it comes to the issue of free speech.

Free speech doesn't mean you can slander or defame anyone you don't like, and expect there to be no consequences. People you baselessly accuse of crimes, for example, will fight back, and it should be pointed out that there are defamation and libel laws, and they exist for a reason.
Free speech has never been without legal restraints. You can't scream there's a bomb on board a crowded aeroplane just for laughs; you will be arrested upon touchdown.
To all those whiny "conservatives" out there who like to grumble about restrictions being placed upon free speech, I simply say keep on crying, because I fully support such restrictions, and the next time you have the audacity, the sheer gall, to accuse someone you don't like of (for example) being in support of child abuse, consider yourself to be lucky if all you receive in return is a punch to the face.

Clearly you are not from the United States yes there are laws against libel and slander but they do not affect a person in the public image so in other words politicians fair game. What about every time a Nazi technically that is slander but most conservatives are grown up enough to just say all the persons just stupid. Yes we have free speech in America and it's a lot freer than Europe and Australia. We can't be put in jail for making memes unless they're about Hillary Clinton. I don't think that goes out of jail yet. So worry about Australia don't worry about the United States.

@dale74 I couldn't care less about the United States, but that's not what my post is about. I was simply pointing out the fact that self-proclaimed conservatives clearly have no idea what the concept of free speech entails. They seem to think it means saying anything at all that comes into their empty skulls, and not expecting a backlash when they try to ruin someone's reputation.

@Pambie One would think you socialists might have sense enough to try to understand a situation and keep your mouth shut until you do, instead of using it to remove all doubt that you lack intelligence. But please, you do you.

@Pambie be nice if you actually gave examples of Republican saying stuff that ruins people's reputations

@TexChik I'm not a Socialist.

Damn I needed this comedic take to start the morning

Delusion level on par with North Korea's thinking of itself as a full fledged world power

Sure. One of them accused me on SW of supporting a party (the Democrats) that in his view endorses paedophilia. I of course deleted his comments, and sent him a nasty DM before blocking the turd. I see Republicans often engage in this sordid tactic.

@Pambie what damage did this cause your reputation
Pambie · 22-25, F
@dale74 It was a false accusation, in more ways than one. If you can't understand why this is wrong, then I can't help you, because you clearly lack empathy, common sense and decency. And you don't know the difference between right and wrong (hint: spreading lies about someone is wrong).
