AOC Accused of Charging Taxpayers Thousands for Dance Lessons, Restaurant Parties
A recent investigation into Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) office expenses has raised questions about her use of taxpayer funds, according to claims made by a social media user.
The allegations surfaced when X account user Paul A. Syzpula published findings from his review of the congresswoman’s expense records.
Ocasio-Cortez’s office spent $850 on “training” from a dance company and $3,384 at a Mexican restaurant in Virginia, according to Syzpula’s investigation.
Syzpula’s review of expenditure documents also claimed that the congresswoman employed 22 staff members between October and December 2024, with a reported cost of nearly half a million dollars.
The social media post further alleged that one of these employees had been living in the United States illegally.
The scrutiny extends beyond Ocasio-Cortez to other Democratic representatives.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) has also come under fire for her spending habits, with disbursement records allegedly showing she charged taxpayers approximately $1,000 monthly for a car lease.
The social media investigation connects this expense to Crockett owning three luxury vehicles.
These recent allegations follow previous controversies surrounding Democratic representatives’ spending. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) faced criticism last year over expense reports that allegedly included childcare costs, meals at Four Seasons steakhouses and accommodations at the Burj Al-Arab in Dubai, which is often marketed as a “seven-star” hotel.
