DOGE Reveals Top Biden Aide’s Nonprofit Received Millions for Empty Migrant Facility Amid Border Crisis
The U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) announced Wednesday that it uncovered evidence of a top Biden aide receiving millions in federal funding for a migrant housing facility that has remained empty amid the nation’s ongoing border crisis.
A Texas nonprofit, Family Endeavors, which employed one of President Joe Biden’s transition team members, secured a government contract to operate an overflow shelter for migrant children in Pecos. According to DOGE, the organization’s financial assets skyrocketed from $8.3 million in 2020 to $520.4 million in 2023, with federal contracts as its sole source of funding.
The Pecos facility, designed to house unaccompanied migrant children, has faced serious issues since its inception. Opened in April 2021 as an emergency intake site by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), it was meant to address the surge in unaccompanied minors at the southern border, according to the American Community Foundation.
However, reports soon surfaced of substandard living conditions, including undercooked food and prolonged stays beyond legal limits, leaving children feeling confined and distressed. Immigration advocates and legal representatives raised concerns over the facility’s oversight and care standards.
Despite these problems, Family Endeavors reportedly began receiving $18 million per month in March 2024 to operate the facility—despite it having no residents. DOGE stated, “With national licensed facility occupancy now below 20%, HHS was able to terminate this contract, saving taxpayers over $215 million annually.”

An EPA press release stated that Abrams’ “community investment group” received the funding under the Biden administration for projects like installing heat pumps, solar panels, home battery systems, EV chargers, and weatherization upgrades—despite reporting just $100 in revenue in 2023.
