The meaning of the words are great. DEI in the corporate world is actually racist/wrong
SW-User
@gol979 but is it worse than countless cvs being tossed in the bin simply because a name doesn’t sound “white”?
gol979 · 41-45, M
@SW-User yeah thats not right also but you dont combat wrong with another wrong. I feel like DEI is a shiny object for us to argue about whilst they push through their agenda
SW-User
@gol979 it’s not right. And we also know that if DEI was abolished, the workforce would very quickly revert to being overwhelmingly white in all jobs except service and manual labor.

Is that fair?

@SW-User pigmentation/minority shouldnt be a factor. The vast, vast majority know that. We dont need DEI in place to enforce this. The fact that it is being pushed front and centre makes it an issue. Its yet further binary division tactics.
SW-User
@gol979 you’re right. Pigmentation shouldn’t be a factor.

But it is.

And at the moment DEI is the only thing that tries to address the balance.

The amount of non-whites passed over for a job even if they are qualified FAR exceeds the number of DEI hires that companies have to make.

Musk knows this, of course, but by pandering to Americans’ inherent racism, he’s able to provide the distraction he needs to fully take control.

@SW-User "americans' inherent racism". Thats a bold statement. Incorrect imo.

Musk and co are using DEI to play both partisan sides
SW-User
@gol979 Well, I will say that Musk is not playing to anyone to the left of, say, Hannity. That should be obvious.

Also, regarding inherent racism, I will say that Trump's "Base" in the Deep South and Midwest were always the sort of people who claimed they were never going to fall for the patter of a slick, fast-talking New Yorker like Trump.

So what did he pander to in order to get them onside? It was obvious from 2016.
