My friend wrote a book titled “Canada in Pieces” by Craig Wallace ( fictional) but it deals with the issue.

We could drive to Alaska through Canada without needing to show a passport. That’d be cool.

Don't stress. Australia has a total of 8 states/territories which are in some ways like 'puppet' states 51 to 58 of the USA already because of military and economic 'interferences'.
