Zelenskyy is accepting defeat

In an interview with Sky News, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently said Ukraine may have to cede territory. He recognizes Trump may want him to cede Kharkov, Donbass, Kherson, Crimea, and is preparing for it. He said he will be willing to do this if the rest of Ukraine can join NATO. This part is irrelevant, as Zelenskyy knows the rest of Ukraine cannot join NATO. He is only saying this to make it sound better to Ukrainians still willing to fight. His comments to Sky News reveal a willingness to make a peace deal which involves ceding territory. With or without Trump, Ukraine is losing and Zelenskyy knows this.

For those interested, Kharkov is the second-largest city in Ukraine.

@trollslayer Yes and Putin tried to appease the new Hitler - Biden. It didn't work and the result is war.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@hippyjoe1955 how so?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@trollslayer Go look up the Minsk Accords where war would have been averted. The US said Nyet. The UK said Nyet and NATO said Nyet. Russia had no choice. Ukrainians were being slaughtered by Ukraine.

@trollslayer Look at Hitler and look at Biden and you will find a very very very similar view of the world. The Nazis of Germany and the USA Democrats of today are identical twins.

@trollslayer “Appeasement! Worked sooooo well with Hitler.”

Can you explain? Do you know the history? Do you know what Putin wants?

Appeasement would have worked with Hitler, but Britain did not want to appease him. Hitler went after Stalin, a man who helped him before Hitler turned on him. Britain did not need to go to war when Hitler invaded Poland, but they did. Do you think WWII would have happened if not?
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@SW-User Appeasement obviously did not work. Britain agreed to the annexation of Sudetenland in 1938 after months of sabre-rattling by Germany in a bid to avert war. That did not stop Germany from invading Poland the following year. There was a constitutional crisis in Britain and Neville Chamberlain is rightly regarded as a deeply flawed diplomat.

Do you think that world affairs should consist of a few military powers doing whatever they want in their national interest without regard to law, justice, and the right of smaller narions to self-determination?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@SunshineGirl I am not sure you can call Britain's reaction to Germany 'appeasement so much as a desperate stall for time while Britain re-armed itself. Germany's Air force was vastly superior to Britain's and its army was very large and very well armed. The same can not be said of Britain. Very similar to today when comparing Britain to Russia. Britain would lose any real war with Russia in a few weeks.

@SW-User good grief, a Hitler apologist? Really?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@trollslayer Well you are on the side of the Nazis. So there is that.

@SunshineGirl Let's not pretend here. No government does anything for benign reasons, especially when it comes to war and foreign policy. Hitler admired Britain, and he liked America too. He loved Hollywood movies. He was no threat to Britain or America. Britain did not want to see a powerful Germany spreading itself around and pushing boundaries, which is why they instigated war with Germany. I believe in peace, not war. What did Hitler do to Britain before they fought against him? Nothing. Was he going to harm Britain? Never! Hitler thought the British were very civilized and went soft on them at first. Were it not for his softness, Germany would have beat Britain. Stalin had reason to get involved as Hitler tried to take over Russia. However, Stalin was willing to compromise and make peace with Hitler. Britain was determined to war at any cost.

@trollslayer What's the matter?

@hippyjoe1955 how am I on the side of Nazis?

@SW-User Interesting interpretations of history . . Germany lost the war because Hitler was too moderate and indecisive 🤣
SW-User
@trollslayer Is this supposed to mean something?
SW-User
@SunshineGirl It is true. Hitler could have overcome the British if he'd had less respect for them.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@SW-User He did not want to draw Britain into the war for a variety of reasons, some of which were shared cultural values. The invasion of Poland opened up an unmanageable additional front and arguably sowed the seeds of Germany's failure.
SW-User
@SunshineGirl There was no war before Britain got involved. I know you are Polish, but it has to be said that they capitulated quickly. They could not beat Germany. Germany invaded Poland with ease. They also had Soviet Union to contend with.

Now that you s funny!!!’

I guess they don’t teach world history or math in russia? When did Germany invade Poland? When did the UK declare war?

On September 3, 1939, the United Kingdom declared war on Germany—two days after the German invasion of Poland. France also declared war on Germany later the same day.
