Reality shock - China's carbon emissions doubled in the past decade, while the US went into debt to subsidize renewable energy.

“What if I told you” . . . that we’re trapped in a false reality, and nothing we’ve been told is real? No . .. this isn’t what Morbius told Neo in the Matrix. But close enough. The lie we’re being told is that the Trillions America goes into debt to halt climate change aren’t going to make a difference. Because China is doubling its carbon emissions every 10 years, and now emits as nearly much CO2 as the entire rest of the world combined. Double the CO2 from the US, Europe, and India combined. See link below.

Before you dismiss these findings as BS, consider the source: the uber-respected Global Carbon Project. This is not some self-promoting US government agency, which has a vested interest keeping its ginormous budgets alive.

But how can this be? How can China have doubled CO2 over the decade? They’re flooding the internet with pictures of giant wind turbines.

Um . . . yes, they are. But if you google “air pollution in China”, you can see the emissions in real time. China continues to open coal fired electric plants at a record pace. Because, you know, they want to sell us Chinese made EVs. Steel. HDTVs. Clothing. Anything made out of plastic. Check your Amazon shopping cart. Where do your purchases come from, and what are they made of? Wind turbines aren’t being used to make steel. Or China’s military preparations to invade Taiwan. Or vast, empty Mongolian factory cities, which may never be completed.

We’re all gonna die, and there’s nothing we can do. As long as China (and India) continue to expand their fossil fuel use exponentially, there aren’t enough places in America to put solar panels and wind farms to make a difference. In case you missed it, India is now the primary buyer of Russian oil and coal. You can see their cargo ships jockeying for position in the port of Mumbai, with satellite photos.

The real problem is NOT America’s insatiable demand for new cars, 75 inch televisions, smart phones, and designer athletic footwear. It’s the aspirations of the REST of the world to live exactly like we do. THAT’s why we’re all gonna die. Everyone is inevitably going to have cars, and lots of electronic gear, and a ginormous wardrobe. China simply wants to sell them all that stuff.

I’m just sayin’ . . .

So America should be permitted to continue consuming without restrictions, but the rest of the world must curb their aspirations? That is colonial arrogance at its most extreme.

Climate change is a global issue that must be addressed in global terms, not inward looking Trumpian neo-nationalism. No doubt CO2 emited on American soil will begin to rise in line with any increase in manufacturing activity. Perhaps that will make you happy.

China emits loads because it produces on behalf of the rest of the world. They also have some of the biggest and most ambitious hydro and wind electricity projects.

Think.globally, act locally.

@SunshineGirl

Are you confused

We have tons & tons of restrictions in place
The rest of the world needs to catch up
Maybe you should focus on the countries who are the biggest polluters & curb them instead of bashing USA

So China gets a pass because they producer for the rest of us

@pdockal Nobody is "bashing USA". Just asking people to take responsibility for their own actions and stop making excuses. The chart above shows CO2 emissions in USA are on an upward trend (compared to China where they are falling) and almost twice as much as Europe. That is food for thought.

You are bashing ..... " America should be permitted to continue consuming without restrictions " & " that is colonial arrogance at its most extreme "

You have no idea what restrictions we have in place
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@pdockal Not nearly enough, so it seems . .

How would you know
Do you live here
Maybe handle the issues in your country first before throwing stones

@SunshineGirl at our peak energy production, the US still had less than 400 coal plants active

China currently has over 1200 active coal plants, with several hundred more being built (as many as 3,000 are planned for the future)

The US heavily invested in cleaner burning coal technologies, China on the other hand simply doesn't care, they burn it fast and dirty to get every ounce of power out of it.

In other words, if the US and Europe went completely clean overnight, it would made absolutely no difference compared to the pollution China & India is currently producing...

@SunshineGirl

Your missing the whole point of the post

You just bash USA when you can
How childish
How uneducated

@SunshineGirl Climate change is a lib construct to siphon billions into their own pockets. Of the 70 world disaster predictions they have made since the 50s, NONE have ever come true...not even close. Its a lie.

@SunshineGirl that is the EXACT OPPOSITE of what's in my post.

You get a zero in today's assignment, sunshine girl.
