How significant is the recent escalation between NATO and Russia?

NATO is now allowing the use of American and British missiles in Russian territory. In September, Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer decided, after discussions, not to allow this. We can assume the reason is wanting to avoid escalation. Putin issued a very clear warning and they appeared to listen.

What has changed since then? It has only been two months. Russia continues to do well, which is not a change as Russian military has been doing well for over a year. Why is Biden, before he leaves office, allowing Ukraine to use these missiles? He knows what the potential consequences are. Starmer also knows what the consequences are. The deep state know the consequences. This can only be a way to try to sabotage Trump's presidency.

Do you think this escalation is significant? What do you think will happen?

Putin used his nuclear capability to attempt to draw a red line. NATO called his bluff and precisely nothing has happened. A tactical and diplomatic success. This is what healthy democratic states do, rather than appeasing autocrats.

Don't be so parochial. NATO has far bigger fish to fry. Trump will sabotage his own presidency without any outside help 🙂

@SunshineGirl You missed the launch of the multiple precision guided warhead ICBM?
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@hippyjoe1955 It was fired into Ukraine. If he had followed up on earlier threats that missile should have landed in Poland. He is acting from a position of weakness and desperation.

@SunshineGirl Yes it was fired into Ukraine. It was meant to show how vulnerable Western Europe and the US are to such missiles. Nothing could stop it and its multiple warheads. Imagine them to be nuclear. They are going to hit you and destroy you and there is nothing you can do to stop them. Get your attention yet?

@SunshineGirl You liberal elites need to get with the program. Several things have happened since US and UK decided to escalate their proxy war: Putin changed the nuclear doctrine, Putin said Russia is now justified in attacking UK and US military facilities, and Russia fired an “experimental” missile into Ukraine showing its strength. The Russian ambassador to UK said UK is now “directly involved” in the war.

“This is what healthy democratic states do, rather than appeasing autocrats.”

This is what the neoliberal western warmongers do.

“Trump will sabotage his own presidency without any outside help.”

Why do you think this? Trump has won in a landslide victory and has very clear plans for America. He has the support of Americans. It is more wishful thinking from another neoliberal witch-like Western warmonger. Go and start war somewhere else, maybe with yourself on planet Mars. Trump will stop military aid to Ukraine and you will lose your proxy war.

@SunshineGirl That's a good girl

@SunshineGirl So Trump's call for peace is not a good thing while starting a nuclear war under Biden is wonderful????? What colour is the sky in your world?

@SunshineGirl Why not? Liberal elites tend to believe communism is good. Liberal elites do not live in the real world.

“He has no clear plans, he will wing it from day one. We will make the best of a bad situation, with or without his help.”

You will be very vulnerable without America. UK has not been investing in its military and it has a population with no desire to fight for their country.

Are you suicidal? Do you want to get nuked?

@SW-User The UK is 19 minutes away from obliteration by those missiles that Putin launched. The average Brit wouldn't have time to finish his beer.

@hippyjoe1955 Trump has not called for peace, he has boasted that the war will end within 24 hours of him assuming office, with absolutely no details of what this entails. If he assists with a satisfactory end to the conflict we will all be grateful. However from the European side he appears to be concerned only with his own interpretation of national self-interest.

@hippyjoe1955 I am rather more concerned about my relatives in neighbouring Poland.

🤦‍♂

@SW-User They really do not . . it is just a certain breed of American conservative that insists on labelling any ideas vaguely progressive and positive as "communist". As for "elite", yes I do have a college degree 🙄
