@Penny no, and what if they do!
Penny · 46-50, F
@samueltyler2 i dont understand what you are saying. if you mean you think it should... is that what you mean?

@Pikachu im not against abortion personally but a lot of people are. there are other considerations as well as to why it might not be ideal for the government to fund abortions. i personally am staying out of it. its still up to the states so that is okay with me. i do think it could bring division and stuff and could lead to civil war even in the future but that is pure speculation and probably would be unfounded. the US isnt saying we cant have abortions is it? its just saying the price will be paid by the states individually. right?
@Penny
No, it's saying that bodily autonomy is not a human right. It's saying that it should be up to politicians whether or not you have control over your own body.
Does that sound good to you?
Staying out of it until it affects you. Does that sound good to you too?

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me
And I did not speak out

@Pikachu okay maybe youre right its not protecting abortion rights anymore. i agree this is sad but ruining the country over abortion rights is not my ideal. ive had my life affected by roe vs wade definitely. im not gonna say to anyone that they should get an abortion. im not gonna say to anyone they cant get an abortion either. i owuld vote for legality of it though. maybe people will start to pay more attention to their state governments. its their lives, not mine, my daughters included for them to protect their rights. we are just now being offered that protection on the state level.
Penny · 46-50, F
@Pikachu i honestly am more of a go with the flow type. im not running for office. i dont know how to run the country or want to apply myself to the task. if the government wants to get rid of roe vs wade, whatever. its not a fight i would choose to pick. if all the states disallowed abortion then i would focus on teaching them prevention if they didnt feel ready or help them if they ended up having a baby. our bodies should be our own to do with as we please. dont get me wrong. i agree. but bringing the law into it is more complicated than that.
Penny · 46-50, F
@Pikachu oh please get off your rocking horse. you want to fight for your right to get an abortion go ahead. all we can really do is go with what the flow allows, even if it means swimming against the current. you choose your battles ill choose mine. have you ever had an abortion?
eta- sorry, not trying to sound mean to you. nothing wrong with being young and having strong opinions but trust me, theres so much we often dont think about or realize. theres just a lot you might not be aware of considering abortion (like scientific experimentation, dealing with the mentally ill...) lots of shit involved legally. ethical concerns... population concerns...

....my rocking horse? Not familiar with that idiom.
But i'd like to hear your answer :
What else would you go with the flow? What if State by state we decided who was allowed to get an education? Get married? Earn wages for their labour?
Where do you draw the line about going with the flow? Where do you draw the line about what is a human right in your country and what should be up to political pressure?
Be honest.

@Pikachu rocking horse, like a little kid would use lol. sorry again. it just popped in to my head and i didnt htink before i wrote it but it did fit my feeling about it. the government already does all that. thats the point. we are the governed. we have freedom of speech and such. its a good government in general. i like to trust it as best as i can.
@Penny
I'd really appreciate it if you answered a straight question with a straight answer.

@Penny I simply asked are you okay with privately funded abortions and opposed to government supported?
Penny · 46-50, F
@samueltyler2 i am okay with either personally. i think its helpful for the government to help fund abortions. i mean, giving your baby up for adoption is an alternative but to me unnacceptable. imagine 15 and pregnant with no support. how awful. or worse. the government doesnt need that kind of strain. however many unwed mothers and their babies to support with taxpayers money. how will she support herself through school to get a decent job to support herself and the baby? or even if she had support like the guy was staying with her to help. we cant support three people on one lower class salary anymore. id say a lot cant really make it on one salary at all. poverty all around! what else is there? forced adoption? stealing peoples children becaus ethey cant afford to raise them right.

@Pikachu idgaf about the quote. i know what it means. sadly, our fundamental human rights are influenced by politicians. do i think they should be left to them? of course not. im not buying guns though. im not becoming a lobbyist. i mean, maybe i would if things got bad but they arent that bad . why dont you start writing letters to your congressman or something? what else can we do?
