Why are conservatives disproportionately against women having the right to abort a pregnancy...
...but conservatives are also way more likely to oppose things like sex education or free birth control which prevents the need for an abortion to take place?
There's a biblical view of having as many descendents as there are stars. An unattainable goal, but one which is promised in their religious fairytale. So to live up to that, anything that makes more is good in their mind.
I just find it more contradictory that many of those in the same group are also highly for capital punishment and have many allowances of killings, such as holy wars, than others. If you want to increase your numbers and killing babies is bad, then killing anybody at all is bad too, isn't it?
I think a lot of it goes back to the Christian influences that conservatives embrace. Christianity has long taken the stand that sex is bad unless it's in wedlock and for the purpose of procreation. In their minds the things you mention promote sex for pleasure, not procreation. I thought society had long moved past demonizing sex for pleasure but it's made a roaring comeback.
@Pikachu Yes, which brings to mind Sarah Palin, and her rather rabid advocacy of 'abstinence only' sex education being taught in public schools. It must have been at least a little galling for her, to learn of her 17 year old (unwed) daughter's pregnancy.
@JPWhoo and then there’s the ones that have mental issues, which is 99% of them, if they have xxy chromosomes then they are normally born with both gender genitalia
