This is the same guy that everyone said would disband NATO. And then went on to put some of the most war mongering war mongerers like John Bolton in charge of his foreign policy.

Trump's National Security advisor John Bolton doesn't think it's a coincidence that Putin invaded when he did.
Bolton says Putin was waiting for Trump to withdraw the US from NATO before invading. Since Trump had threatened such withdrawal multiple times, it was a reasonable expectation on Putin's part. However, after Trump lost both the election and the Jan 6 coup attempt, Putin had no more reason to delay.

"I thought he put his foot over it, but at least he didn't withdraw then," said Bolton, who wrote in his memoir about Trump's consideration of withdrawing from NATO in 2018. "In a second Trump term, I think he may well have withdrawn from NATO. And I think Putin was waiting for that."
