Doubtful. I mean that has been the narrative to push people to support the Democrats but it simply doesn't add up after any even basic scrutiny.
This is the same guy that everyone said would disband NATO. And then went on to put some of the most war mongering war mongerers like John Bolton in charge of his foreign policy.
Trump is not some accidental peacenik.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Trump’s first impeachment was based on attempting to hold up Ukrainian aid to find dirt on the Bidens.
Also practically none of his previous foreign policy picks are supporting him. What’s left are the Stephen Millers of the world and those who chanted “the Russians are our friends” at Charlottesville.
There is little reason to believe a second Trump administration would fund the fight against the Russian invasion.

@luckranger71 I don't really care what is said. Talk is cheap and especially in politics.
What he has actually done has been nothing but status quo.
And the bit at the beginning about holding up funding for Ukraine everyone that holds that up as a smoking gun conveniently omit that he reversed course on that.
That also was nothing more than opportunism and hardly a coherent foreign policy position.
And great job retconning neo nazis as suddenly Russian agents.
And lets not forget Putin himself has said Biden was a better bet for Russia because he is a predictable cold war dinosaur.
So even Putin is on record that Trump is not favorable to Russia.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow See foreign policy is where I feel Trump departed wildly with the bipartisan consensus. He was all in on being pro-Israeli and anti-Iran, but on Russia?
I am absolutely convinced Russia would not have invaded Ukraine if Trump was President. This is likely because Ukraine wouldn't have been in a position to move towards a pro-EU pro-NATO stance cause they wouldn't have had American support to count on in the first place.

Yes.Talk is cheap. Which is why I wouldn’t believe anything out of Putin’s mouth.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow John Bolton you say? Trump just assumed every appointee would be loyal to himself. That they might have independent policy-based opinions never crossed Trump's mind!!
Trump's National Security advisor John Bolton doesn't think it's a coincidence that Putin invaded when he did.
Bolton says Putin was waiting for Trump to withdraw the US from NATO before invading. Since Trump had threatened such withdrawal multiple times, it was a reasonable expectation on Putin's part. However, after Trump lost both the election and the Jan 6 coup attempt, Putin had no more reason to delay.

"I thought he put his foot over it, but at least he didn't withdraw then," said Bolton, who wrote in his memoir about Trump's consideration of withdrawing from NATO in 2018. "In a second Trump term, I think he may well have withdrawn from NATO. And I think Putin was waiting for that."

@ElwoodBlues And all this is conspiracy theories no more substantive than Q anon.
And because it fits a narrative apparently Trump is the only politician in history we are supposed to take a few statements completely at face value regardless of whether they are supported with action. And suddenly John Bolton is a reliable foreign policy analyst?
I am not a Trump fan but this is nonsense.
