@Heartlander
Don't you remember when Nixon imposed wage and price controls?
"Nixon issued Executive Order 11615 (pursuant to the Economic Stabilization Act of 1970), imposing a 90-day freeze on wages and prices in order to counter inflation. This was the first time the U.S. government had enacted wage and price controls since World War II."

But she doesn’t say how. So let me guess. … will Democrats try to impose price control on American businesses?

@Diotrephes 7Do you really think Harris would impose a wage freeze? When was the last time you heard a Democrat, any Democrat rant about greedy union workers or overpaid dock workers, or health care workers pay their fair in taxes? :)

@Heartlander The Dems have been trying to increase the average worker's pay. But Nixon showed that the President can implement wage and price controls by executive order.

I expect price controls and a wealth tax on the value of business and portfolios.
@joe438 Yep, they may also try equity payments, like $X dollars for everyone earning less than $Y. They spent the past few years making "equity" a household word, for a reason/

And how is that a bad idea? It's not like we have "true free market." There is no competition, only Corporate America sharing the market. This is what stabilized our economy and allowed it to grow so fast. In case you forgot, Reagan ushered in all of this American wealth, only 44 years ago, it's trickled down economics that got us where we are today. Now that we've given the greed mongers control ,don't you think it's time they paid us just a little bit back?

@calicuz
Wage and price controls sure worked great in the mid 70's. All we got was the near depression of the late 70's
Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Derp! 🤡

You still can't see that it's the Trickled Down Economics of Reagan that got us to this partially Marxist Society that we live in today?
Take your hands from over your eyes and face reality my friend.

@Heartlander of course she does
🙄 The high cost of food is "greedy corporations" when your typical grocery store chain runs on ~1% margin.
Sadly...shocking the oil supply chain by cutting off the XL pipeline spiked oil costs, which touches everything. And oil companies run on thin margins too.

@samueltyler2 Have you seen the price of everything else?

@ron122 p-lease, yes things are more expensive, but inflation is going down significantly, salaries are up. give it time, ,but, don't expect toe prices to go back to those before covid, the big companies have gotten used to their huge profits, and will not cut prices to help the country.
