Small point of order. Exactly how is Trump going to pay for ANY of this? Even skipping over the part where tax on social security and tax on tips arent going to benefit anyone who currently needs that income. because they dont pay income tax now...😷
@whowasthatmaskedman There CAN be a tax on some social security benefits. I know someone who DOES pay taxes on a fraction of that income.
@whowasthatmaskedman

The tips thing will work out swimmingly for some of the very rich - - tips being a technicality and all.

" It would create a big new loophole the wealthy could use to avoid paying taxes: lawyers, consultants, hedge fund managers and other professionals could designate their fees as tips."
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@rinkydinkydoink I agree. And of course even the rich get social security and it will save them tax..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman
1) has no additional cost as we already have Border Patrol on site...they just won't put them on airplanes and scatter around the country. Stopping 5k/mo also saves money.
2) sanctions cost us nothing
3) no real cost to taxpayers here
4) small reduction in revenue
5) large reduction in taxpayer funded expenses
6) stopping payments to UKR pays for this.
7) saves money and embarrassment
8) saves us money
9) creates revenue
10) saves money

@easterniowegin Sorry. None of that adds up. Just like it didnt last time..😷

@easterniowegin Right back at you Sweety. Revenue has never been Trumps long suit. Now I can work the numbers for you and I have in the past in other posts. But lets not pretend like you really want to know...😷
@whowasthatmaskedman You can widen that to

Revenue has never been Republicans' strong suit.
easterniowegin · 51-55, M
The fed govt already takes in too much tax revenue. We are sometimes triple taxed on the same dollar.
No, stop with the revenue talk. The spending is out of control, and no one seems to want to track any of it.
If you want to contribute one-third or more of your income to the DC politicians, be my guest.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@SomeMichGuy True. Deficit spending is historically greater under Republican administration. But lets be honest. Republicans today are no longer Republican. They are right wing extremists, funded by an Oligarchy.. Now I would be against that, if they were doing a good efficent job. But I think we can agree they arent.😷
easterniowegin · 51-55, M
@whowasthatmaskedman why does spending always get associated with the executive branch? Dems have been in control of the purse strings in majority of republican president's terms, vice versa.
And when GOP controls the purse, there is always talk of shutdowns, bc dems never want to cut spending.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@easterniowegin Everything on your list costs money. Defewnce costs BIG money and you want more of it. Collecting taxes is how the government does that. It isnt rocket science.😷
easterniowegin · 51-55, M
@whowasthatmaskedman you focus on #6.
Yes military spending is very high, but we've spent $150B to one country over 3 years...for their military. Any outrage there?

There is a huge net savings to be had from this plan. HUGE.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@rinkydinkydoink SCOTUS are paid tips!
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@easterniowegin $150B over three years doesnt maintain a supercarrier..😷

@samueltyler2

And they're all defensive about it! I haven't heard the self-righteous Thomas utter the infamous "high-tech lynching" line in a while. I thought we would've by now.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@whowasthatmaskedman oh yeah i do. i pay lots and i get social security.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@SomeMichGuy I don't understand your comment. I am taxed on my SS "benefits." It is handled the same as all of my retirement income. Luckily, some of it is based on income I was able to defer paying taxes on.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@rinkydinkydoink the information about his abuse of his seat just keeps growing. By know anyone not WEIRD would have resigned in embarrassment.
@samueltyler2 Actually, your SAA benefits are not handled like other retirement income. The taxable nature of the SSA benefits is dependent on income, as is the amount subject to taxation.

The guy I was refuting said those benefits are not taxable, which is not universally true.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@SomeMichGuy I don't know what you are saying. All of my SS income is listed as income on my tax return.
@samueltyler2 ...and there is a taxable amount.

If you really don't understand the tax forms, I'm sorry. I have done these for two people for a few years, it's there in black and white.

@samueltyler2 Look at your

Form 1040-SR
ll. 6a & 6b

It's right there.

The taxable amount is figured using the "Social Security Benefits Worksheet", on p. 32 of the general instructions for taxes filed for the last calendar year.

Your program ought to print you a copy of that worksheet as well as the relevant docs filed.

The fact that you have no idea of this is unsuprising.
