Why is it fashionable talking about politics and then hearing nick names like Satanyahu, Lalastyn, Isnotreal, Kamel Toe etc.

It really sounds juvenile and stupid. Just my opinion, how can one have any serious discourse with someone who uses terms like that? Am I the only one who finds it tacky?

I agrée that it does trivialize things. But it also reveals levels of bigotry when they only come up with sexist "nicknames" for women or make fun of foreign sounding names.
People will often tell you who they are without intending to.
@bijouxbroussard that’s the first thing some people do, criticise women’s appearance. I just think it’s tacky all around. I mean if you don’t like someone’s policies - criticise by all means and challenge. But when it starts with silly names like above…they’ve lost me. Someone said the other day that they can’t believe how American politicians talk about one another in public. Not that politicians from my country are any better, I’m just saying. Shouldn’t there be a level of professionalism?

Too many people who talk about politics online don't have any political background or education.
They repeat what they hear on talk radio or social media.
@chrisCA absolutely agree. And everyone seems to be a professor these days.

Because 90% of political discourse isn't serious, especially online
@Elessar True that. Fake outrages and trigger points or what’s trending online is all that forms certain people’s identities. That’s shows a lot about their intelligence and character in my estimation.

It is very childish and reflects badly on the speaker 😐

You get used to it. Democrats started doing it years ago as identity politics is all they have. You just accept it as their only means of virtue signalling. You feed it back to them as they thrive on it.
@MasterLee To me, it’s tacky regardless of political viewpoints.

what goes around comes around...
@wildbill83 what does that mean in this context?

Doesn’t it go the other way too? So yeah I guess so.

@chrisCA I’m 54. You?
@AthrillatheHunt I understand and have no issue with political satire, it’s a good thing. However when one is trying to have a reasonable discussion about something and people start talking like that, I just think it’s obtuse. I can’t take anything they say, seriously from there. Just my opinion.

@InterdimensionalSideEye name calling is the enemy of discourse . I just think the names are funny .
