Joe Biden's proposed amendments

Do you think that US president Biden's proposed constitutional amendments make sense and would improve politics & justice in America and elsewhere?

And do you think the majority of the American public is too (fill in your own blank) to allow these proposals to become reality?

i find it interesting that he would propose term limits for SCOTUS justices, but not members of congress... that's where the real problem is.

I'm sure it's just a discussion point to counter Trump's proposed overthrow of current accepted norms published last week.

In other words, find these ideas ridiculous if you want but compare them to what Trump is proposing

are we talking about the Supreme Ct changes? We don't want the judges switched out yearly. we need continuity.

@ffony thanks for clarifying.

I mean there is alot more that needs fixing. Like judicial review is still totally broken.

And it is kind of pathetic you have gone hundreds of years at this point with no code of conduct for the highest court in the land.

Kind of sad when a school board trustee has a code of conduct but the SCOTUS doesn't.

And without removing the judges from partisan politics I don't know how term limits would do much.

Just my two cents as an observer from up north.

Since Biden and family have gotten very wealthy while in office he should shine the spotlight on crooked politicians in Congress and the Executive branch.

Code of conduct for SC justices. Good idea, but how is this enforced?
Term limits for Justices - I see big issues here, mainly in that it would increase the power of the presidency. If you know that 3 justices are terming out within the next 4 years, that places greater emphasis on the presidential election.
Presidential immunity - only if this is explicitly defined as to what crimes they are not immune from and which they are. Otherwise I see this being abused. And I think this should only apply to crimes committed while in office.

@trollslayer I think you make a good suggestion about limiting the consequences of lesser crimes by a president.
I like both ideas, at least in principle, but I don't see any Constitutional Amendments passing in the next decade or 2.
@Baremine Which would be anpther hard amendment to pass. That one would probably have more popular support, though, whether it's a good idea or not. 2 terms in the house seems awfully brief.

Yes I am totally in support of these amendments. We as citizens of the United States need protection from this version of ScOTUS.
First thing that Maduro did as change up the Supreme Court..

All good ideas.

@Baremine Foolish irrelevant reaction to a pair of simple questions. Maybe it suggests an answer to the second one though.
