There was nothing faintly ideological about prescribing puberty blockers, which has been common medical practice for decades. Politicians declaring an "emergency" and ignoring objective scientific evidence . . now that seems highly ideological.
@SunshineGirl I know a australian hermaphrodite who was pressured in his teens to have a sex change operation to become a woman. He is now a male weight lifter with no penis. He's quite pissed off he was pressured to do so as a minor.

There is plenty of science showing the danger of puberty blockers, and how many want it reversed as they get older but are by then sterile. It violates the medical oath doctors take to first do no harm, is anti science, and worst of all, is purely ideologically driven and indifferent to the plight of minors who aren't ready yet to make their own medical decisions.

Keep it till they reach the age of majority. I'm still opposed to it even then, but won't go on a rescue mission for someone's weiner if they decide to have it chopped off as a adult. They can do complex body modifications then, but they ahould assume full risk and not demand costly medical fizes to hormonal inbalances and biological defects from government funded medical socialism when it backfires. Definately need aome waivers signed and laws in place saying we won't pay for stupid.

@Dignaga It is a complicated area of medicine for sure. Which is why I would prefer to leave the decision-making to qualified medical professionals with a lifetime of experience and ethical training than to transient politicians.
@SunshineGirl No, you want it left to peer pressure by udeological groups. That's what you mean. What co servatices are saing is leave it to a adult patient to make the decision with their doctor, not some child or teen being induced by peer pressure who will regret it later, as so many have. Have some humanity, actually care about these kids, don't mutilitate and sterilize them just because it is the liberal fashion of the month to do so.
@SunshineGirl bull. Having sex only after you grow up made people freaking weird - mostly girls.

@SunshineGirl The opinions of medical professions deserve a great deal of weight and indeed some deference, but they to are sobject to various pressures.and incentives. We should indeed respect their knowledge and experiencer, but we also need to remember that only a few short years ago a great number of them were pressured (or perhaps just 'swept along') into making some very tragic decisions regarding OxyContin.
