If you want to read something more accurate, try Elizabeth Catte's What You Are Getting Wrong About Appalachia. She talks about the area's history of resistance to the outside forces that have treated it as an internal colony, extracting its resources for the benefit of people outside of it. Of course, that goes against your indoctrination.
