@Zaphod42 If you wanna get technical, Republicans have done this much much earlier than 2019. But that's the year they went full cultist with their defense of Trump. That's when both the Trump Cult and the ideology of Trumpism really emerged. And part of that is constant gaslighting.

@BohemianBabe Fair. I just picked 1986 as that’s when Reagan killed public mental healthcare and told us all we’d better off with private care…which imho lead us right to where we are now with the cult.
@Zaphod42 That's a good argument too. It could also be when Newt Gingrich started telling Republicans that if they want to win elections, they need to demonize the Democrats. It's hard to say exactly when the path to Trumpism began.

@BohemianBabe Nope. Republicans may be all over the map, ideology wise (they ARE the ONLY real independents in America) but for the most part they've been honest and factual. It's just that you goose stepping NAZIS aren't used to people disagreeing with you.
