Warning: Project 2025 is the Game Plan

We should all be terrified of Trump’s Project 2025
By Robert Reich/The Guardian

Project 2025” is nothing short of a 900-page blueprint for guiding Donald Trump’s second term of office if he’s re-elected.

After the Heritage Foundation unveiled Project 2025 in April last year, when Trump was seeking the Republican nomination, he had no problem with it.

But now that the nation is turning its attention to the general election, Trump doesn’t want Project 2025 to draw attention. Its extremism is likely to turn off independents and moderates.

So Trump is now claiming he has “no idea who is behind” Project 2025.

This is another in a long line of Trump lies.

The Project 2025 playbook was written by more than 20 officials who Trump himself appointed during his first term. If he has “no idea” who they are, he’s showing an alarming cognitive decline.

One of the leaders of Project 2025 is Russ Vought. Vought was Trump’s director of the Office of Management and Budget, a key position in the White House. Vought is also drafting Trump’s 2024 GOP platform.

Another Project 2025 leader is John McEntee, another of Trump’s top White House aides. (McEntee recently went viral in a video in which he claimed he gives counterfeit money to homeless people to get them arrested.)

Even the national press secretary for Trump’s campaign appears in the Project 2025 recruitment video.

Trump says he “knows nothing” about Project 2025. And he says he “disagrees” with it.

As the former chairman of the Republican party, Michael Steele put it, “Ok, let’s all play with Stupid for minute … so exactly how do you ‘disagree’ with something you ‘know nothing about’ or ‘have no idea’ who is behind, saying or doing the thing you disagree with?”

Trump may also be worried that Heritage president Kevin Roberts could alarm independents and moderates. On Wednesday, Roberts raised the prospect of political violence. “We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be,” Roberts told the War Room podcast, founded by Trump adviser Steve Bannon.

But let’s be clear. The Trump campaign platform is basically Project 2025. Trump’s Make America Great Again Pac is running ads calling it “Trump’s Project 2025”.

The Make America Great Again Pac also created the website In case there’s any doubt that Trump and the Heritage Foundation are working in close partnership, Trump can be seen in this video praising the Heritage Foundation and saying he “needs” them to “achieve” his goals.

The close relationship between Trump and the Heritage Foundation goes back years. In 2018, the Heritage Foundation bragged that Trump implemented two-thirds of their policy recommendations in his first year – more than any other president had done for them.

The goals of Project 2025 are the same goals Trump tried to achieve in his first term or has been advocating in this campaign.

One key goal of Project 2025 is to purge all government agencies of anyone more loyal to the constitution than to Trump – a process Trump himself started in October 2020 when he thought he would remain in office.

Trump has promised to give rightwing evangelical Christians what they want. Accordingly, Project 2025 calls for withdrawing the abortion pill mifepristone from the market, expelling trans service members from the military, banning life-saving gender affirming care for young people, ending all diversity programs, and using “school choice” to gut public education.

Project 2025 also calls for eliminating “woke propaganda” from all laws and federal regulations – including the terms “sexual orientation,” “diversity, equity, and inclusion,” “gender equality,” and “reproductive rights.”

Other items in the Project 2025 blueprint are precisely what Trump has called for on the campaign trail, including mass arrests and deportations of undocumented people in the United States, ending many worker protections, dropping prosecutions of far-right militias like the Proud Boys, and giving additional tax cuts for big corporations and the rich.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that climate change is a “hoax.” Project 2025 calls for expanding oil drilling in the United States, shrinking the geographic footprint of national monuments, terminating clean energy incentives, and ending fossil-fuel regulations.

Trump has said he’d seek vengeance against those who have prosecuted him for his illegal acts. Project 2025 calls for the prosecution of district attorneys Trump doesn’t like, and the takeover of law enforcement in blue cities and states.

Project 2025 is, in short, the plan to implement what Donald Trump has said he wants to do if he’s re-elected.

Trump may want to distance himself from Project 2025 in order to come off less bonkers to independents and moderates, but he can’t escape it. The document embodies everything he stands for.

I urge you to read Project 2025 and come back here and say that this is the direction you want the US to go. If you care anything about democracy, you must vote and make sure Trump and his cult do not get anywhere near the WH and Congress.

Interesting. It sounds to me like he plans to do exactly what he has been saying he'll do. Considering the high approval ratings, huge crowds he draws and the prosperity the country enjoyed during his term, I'm not sure I understand your panic.

the prosperity the country enjoyed during his term

Your facts are wrong. Why do Trump supporters never get this right?

Trump lost vast numbers of jobs and the economy tanked.

Under Biden, we gained back all the lost jobs AND MORE. Wages are up, unemployment is at historic LOWS.

And look around--our economy is doing better than nearly anyone else in the world in the post-pandemic restart.

Republicans call Trump’s move to distance himself from Project 2025 ‘preposterous’
Trump’s claim to ‘know nothing’ about radical plan recognizes it could sink campaign, ex-Pence adviser says

Donald Trump’s “preposterous” efforts to disavow Project 2025, a rightwing blueprint for a radical takeover of the US government if the former president is re-elected in November, have been derided by former Republican figures.

The Project 2025 plan includes calls for replacing civil servants with Trump loyalists, eliminating the education department, putting the justice department under the president’s thumb and banning the abortion pill.

But although it was written by former members of Trump’s first administration, and he regularly echoes its policies in his speeches, last week Trump tried to disown the initiative.

Posting on his Truth Social website, the presumptive Republican nominee claimed to “know nothing about Project 2025” and have “no idea who is behind it”.

Olivia Troye identified various figures – including John McEntee, who was Trump’s director of White House personnel, Stephen Miller, a senior adviser in his first administration, Ben Carson, the housing and urban development secretary in his cabinet, and Ken Cuccinelli, a former deputy secretary of homeland security – as among the project’s leading architects.

Carson has been “out there on the campaign trail” with Trump, she said.

“I think what this is telling us is that Donald Trump knows that what is written in this plan is so extreme that it is damaging to his possibility of getting elected, and that’s what he’s concerned about.”

“Exactly how do you ‘disagree’ with something you ‘know nothing about’ or ‘have no idea’ who is behind, saying or doing the thing you disagree with?” said former RNC chair and current MSNBC host Michael Steele in echoing Troye’s derision.

A number of former Trump administration members as well as people currently working for his campaign have promoted the project. For example, Paul Dans, the director of Project 2025 at The Heritage Foundation, served in the Trump administration as chief of staff at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.

Of the 37 authors behind “Mandate for Leadership,” more than 20 of them worked in Trump’s administration.

Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s campaign press secretary, and his former policy advisor Stephen Miller both appear in this promotional video for a Project 2025 initiative.

On Trump’s website, a page titled “Agenda47” outlines his personal policy plans should he be re-elected and take office in 2025. There are some similarities between Agenda47 and Project 2025’s goals. For example, Project 2025 says its goal is to “dismantle the deep state” and Trump’s website says his Agenda47 will “Crush the Deep State.”

@JSul3 he’s distancing himself from it because he wants both to do with it

Are you in a cult
JSul3 · 70-79
@BizSuitStacy I am not a Trump Cult Member.

I am a believer in the Constitution and the rule of law. I am in the cult of Democracy.
I am a believer in the Constitution and the rule of law. I am in the cult of Democracy.

And you forgot your civics...we live in a constitutional Republic, not a democracy. And the reason we don't live in a democracy is because our Constitution was written to protect individual rights over the will of the masses. You say you believe in the Constitution, and yet you just showed us you don't understand it.
JSul3 · 70-79
@BizSuitStacy LOL! You support a traitor and you tell me about the Constitution?

Let me guess. You believe taxing people into poverty will lower the tempature.

It's important to spread information on Project 2025 far and wide.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Frankly, it doesnt matter whether Trump knows anything about the 2025 plan or not. The people he is closest to like Miller and Vought do know it and his management style has always been to leave it to "the best people" to get it done while he goers and cheats at golf..
But lets say he starts to object to some of the less popular measures, Miller and his ilk have already suggested "taking out" people in the way. Who is going to suspect or object if Trump suddenly suffers "ill health" and has to be replaced. Nothing to see here folks. Move along..
I confess I am in awe of the planning thats gone into this. It takes account of the stupidity and apathy of Americans and the corruption of politics and the courts has taken decades. These guys deserve to win on the basis of effort..😷
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@AthrillatheHunt On the straight media commentary part, I would like to personally apologize to America (and the world) for Rupert Murdoch. He was one of ours before he was yours..
As for the helpess thing in general, I am afraid its the boiling frog thing. Its happened so slowly over such a long time, the people never noticed.😷

We are not an democracy , but a republic. If you are afraid of closed borders, less crime , and lower taxes then so be it . All the liberal ideas have failed .
@Fa8393 A Republic is a form of Democracy. Republicans use the "Republic not a Democracy" line because they're trying to redefine Republicanism in a way that allows for Fascism.

Also, we had open borders and more crime under Trump. Authoritarianism is not good for these things.

@Fa8393 We are a democratic republic.

And tons of liberal ideas have succeeded.

Well...his minions won't read it because their attention span only exists up to 4 syllables. And if they have read it, they will cream their jeans with what it is about. They do love their cruelty.
@WalksWith True, but there are a lot of fence-sitters who don't plan on voting because they don't like either candidate. These are the people we need to reach. They need to know that while things may stay the same under Biden, they'll get WAY worse under Trump.

You have a legitimate post, concern and worry about this but it will fall on deaf ears here in this Trump Cult Obsessed SW Fan Club. They can't help that they're sick degenerate life sucking cult with 4th graders mentality (same as Trump).
All you can do is pray that the next batch of Kool-Aid Trump serves them has a bit of Jim Jones flavor..LOL 🤣👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

CORRECTION: ..... A LOT of Jim Jones special flavoring.

@Elisbch These people are organised and have an end game. Its not the maniacal need for power. Its just greed. Those with equity in shares, property, precious metals and other non cash investments dont care it the $US is trashed, as whatever replaces it will actually show them as wealthier against those poor sods getting by on a paycheck..😷

I used to think that whole fourth reich conspiracy was a joke but now it’s actually happening.

Right-wing conspiracy theories are insane. Left-wing conspiracy theories are just what's happening in front of us.
Captainjackass · 31-35, M
@BohemianBoo there’s no need for us to come up with insane conspiracies because reality has already become crazier than them. They literally joked about this happening only a few years before it started.
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
Sorry bunky, in an NBC interview Trump said he would not follow 2025.

@Captainjackass Apparently we're also in a cult because we can read what the Heritage Foundation is posting on their own websites.

@NativePortlander1970 Trump stood before us in Helsinki and sided with Putin.
He said Putin was a genius for invading Ukraine.
Recall he had a meeting with Russians at the WH, and no members of the free press were allowed. His translator was told not to take any notes. There is no documentation of what took place. The Russian media provided several photographs.
I could cite many more but if you do not understand that Trump is a traitor and that his plan, written by the Heritage Foundation...the same group that provided names for SCOTUS that lied under oath about Roe v Wade and presidential immunity, nothing will change your mind.
You are either blind to truth and facts or a member of the Trump cult.
