So where is this so called ‘Deep State’ that keeps extremists out of power and safeguards institutions?

@Alter4Ego How the national socialists forced the republican president, the only thing keeping Germany from being taken over by communists or national socialists, to stand down? Maybe.

@Aami1 Fascists come with all sorts of names. They always exist, look at the rise of the National Front in my country in the 1970's.

germany, france and Italy have their share. I have confidence in the german people to have learnt the lessons of history and not get caught again. I am less confident about the USA.

@Alter4Ego No, fascists are fascists and only fascists. I know people have a tendency to reduce the complex world into black and white thinking reminiscent of a kid's Disney movie, but don't be like them.

The National Socialists, Italian Fascists, British Party of Fascists and Bolsheviks were all distinct. All wrong, but all distinct.

@Alter4Ego Similar in that they were collectivists and different versions of socialism, but otherwise very distinct. In more than just names. Can you see things past what names things have?

@Aami1 yeah but it depends what you’re highlighting and many people say ‘fascist’ to have this collection. So they’re referring to something real - and it’s just semantics- if you have a name to collect this on these grounds what is it? Authoritarian maybe? but it’ll take time - it’s just about understanding what people mean

@Jennster Yes, the term is "authoritarian", but then they release such a term would often be very easily applied to them, also.
