Presidential Immunity

[media=https://www.youtube.com/live/ivfUpt17UoI?feature=shared]
He wanted to change the term limits - most likely he will win - he will change the 22nd amendment and Congress will back him up. Is this Country is headed for dictatorship??

He can't just "change" any amendment. If the President and Congress agree to ratify the Constitution, the Supreme Court must rule on the Ratification. So it's not as though he can just "speak and make it so."
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@calicuz no, but he owns the Supreme Court! 😢😢
calicuz · 56-60, M
@Handfull1

Not necessarily. They may feel stronger about the Constitution than party alliance.

@calicuz https://www.archives.gov/federal-register/constitution

The Constitution provides that an amendment may be proposed either by the Congress with a two-thirds majority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate or by a constitutional convention called for by two-thirds of the State legislatures. None of the 27 amendments to the Constitution have been proposed by constitutional convention. The Congress proposes an amendment in the form of a joint resolution. Since the President does not have a constitutional role in the amendment process, the joint resolution does not go to the White House for signature or approval. The original document is forwarded directly to NARA's Office of the Federal Register (OFR) for processing and publication. The OFR adds legislative history notes to the joint resolution and publishes it in slip law format. The OFR also assembles an information package for the States which includes formal "red-line" copies of the joint resolution, copies of the joint resolution in slip law format, and the statutory procedure for ratification under 1 U.S.C. 106b.

The Archivist submits the proposed amendment to the States for their consideration by sending a letter of notification to each Governor along with the informational material prepared by the OFR. The Governors then formally submit the amendment to their State legislatures or the state calls for a convention, depending on what Congress has specified. In the past, some State legislatures have not waited to receive official notice before taking action on a proposed amendment. When a State ratifies a proposed amendment, it sends the Archivist an original or certified copy of the State action, which is immediately conveyed to the Director of the Federal Register. The OFR examines ratification documents for facial legal sufficiency and an authenticating signature. If the documents are found to be in good order, the Director acknowledges receipt and maintains custody of them. The OFR retains these documents until an amendment is adopted or fails, and then transfers the records to the National Archives for preservation.

A proposed amendment becomes part of the Constitution as soon as it is ratified by three-fourths of the States (38 of 50 States).

@calicuz I can only hope. It’s not looking that way right now but I pray you’re right.
@calicuz Exactly. The poor soul who posted this tripe is another victim of leftist brainwashing.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@calicuz Thank you.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Handfull1 No he doesn't, stop listening to left wing pundits.

Sorry the Supreme Court has a Conservative bias, now you know how Conservatives felt in the 60's and 70's.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@calicuz he already announced once that when elected he plans to suspend the constitution.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@SumKindaMunster I’m not listening to anyone. Can’t even bring myself to listen to the news these days. I can still read news feeds from both sides. I listen to my gut. This isn’t about liberal and conservative. What do you want in this country? I’ll listen.

@calicuz
First off NO ONE said that TRUMP could just speak and change it.

Second off the majority of the adult people in America knows what it takes. 2/3 of Congress or 3/4 of the states legislations yes I've already said Trump has Congress and most likely will have the states - regardless of what he says or does they back him.

Many People know since the 22nd amendment was ratified in 1951 many have been against it. Roosevelt was in office for 12 years - not that long ago!

AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@samueltyler2 he also said he’d put HillDog in jail and build a wall. How did that work out for him ?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@AthrillatheHunt he did try to build the wall, wasted lots of money. He said a lot of other things that he did do. He did not get infrastructure done.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@AthrillatheHunt again, we can just hope it goes like last time. Not sure I want to find out tho.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@Handfull1 last time wasn’t too bad . Felt like a normal presidency if one turned off the talking heads in the news .
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M

@SDavis

First off NO ONE said that TRUMP could just speak and change it.

The problem is, that's what all of his followers think.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@calicuz Actually, it's what all his critics think. Just look at all the panic from the TDSers
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@samueltyler2 the reality is Orange is not a threat to democracy . Anyone who thinks otherwise has allowed themselves to get all worked up over nothing. Don’t let your tv control your emotions . That’s how they own you .
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@AthrillatheHunt no one owns me, I have lived in the NYC area almost all my life. I know who he is and what he represents. I also get feeds from both political.sides and can read them myself.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@eli1601 spot on with the critics and not his followers comment.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@samueltyler2 im in Nassau county dude. Small world .
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@AthrillatheHunt how can you deny the bad and only recognized his alleged good
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@samueltyler2 I don’t deny the bad. I recognize the duality of man. Were Walt Disney and Henry Ford good men ? Was Clinton or Nixon ? It wasn’t until about 10 years ago I started to see it wasn’t all black and white but grey .
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@AthrillatheHunt congratulations. He plays to the lowest elements.
