You’re supposed to have faith in the leader of your nation. Democracy depends on it. You can change leaders but during their time in office they are the steward of the nation. If the leader is so unpalatable when democratically chosen it is a reflection of the values of the nation.

@Muthafukajones Having faith in the leader ≠ giving leaders absolute immunity

@Muthafukajones Nope. Democracy depends on laws. Not faith. That's what the whole "nation of laws" thing means.
What if a President blatantly decided to call for a military coup while in office if they didn't like the outcome of an election? And they couldn't be punished for that action. Should we have 'faith" that a President won't do that? Given what we've already seen?

@Ynotisay I think your democracy failed long before that… it began when the wealthiest country on earth spent more on defence than the next twenty nations combined…. How about spending just a bit less on arms and providing health care to all citizens of your country for free.

@Muthafukajones Nope. I agree with what you're saying but you're in to policy decisions. That's very different. This is about laws. We have a separation of powers here. .

@Ynotisay Is the man more important to you than the job? The highest office of power in any nation can take nation to war. Can make a nation prosperous or bankrupt. Done well such a job can alter the course of human events and change the future. If the job is done well then what difference does the man in office make?

@Muthafukajones Again, you're on a different topic. Let's try to stick what this decision is about. You said "your democracy" which tells me you don't live in the U.S. And that's fine. But I'm not not sure you have a strong handle on the ramifications of this decision.
