"Considered to be part of official duties" is an important part there. That's going to delay Trump's court cases but not affect the outcome of any.

@NerdyPotato I hope you're right but I doubt it

@NerdyPotato Who decides what is an official duty?
NerdyPotato · M
@Elessar the courts, starting at the lower ones that have already deemed it personal actions.

@NerdyPotato It will because Trump can just say he was trying to make sure there was a fair election i.e., execute the laws, i.e. official, i.e., immune.
NerdyPotato · M
@Fukfacewillie he wrongly valued his properties on his tax form to make sure the elections were fair while he wasn't even running? He refused to return classified documents to ensure laws saying they should be returned were enforced? Those are going to be really tough battles for him...

@NerdyPotato Do you mean the NY state case? That one seems safe, but no one thought the President had immunity, either. Where there is a will there is a way.
Assuming he wins, all federal cases will be dropped. He also has a Trump loyalist as a judge for the document case. If it goes to trial, the judge will lean heavily for Trump.
Trump is simply untouchable in any criminal prosecutions (all of his acts as President are federal).

@Fukfacewillie he doesn't have immunity though, only for presidential business, not for anything he did privately. That means even federal cases depend on the subject. (All his acts as president are federal indeed, but that doesn't mean all federal cases are about his acts as president.)
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
@NerdyPotato Lol, they will make them official if at all possible. This is about corruption not the rule of law. The judge in the document case is MAGA -- she's corrupt to the bone and not letting the case proceed.

@Convivial Yup, that they could decide. What a joke. It’s all so arbitrary
Convivial · 26-30, F
@Fukfacewillie it's a bit like the Red Queen in wonderland...a word means whatever I choose it to mean.... Just substitute law for word..
