The Old Man And The Con Man

This is how I feel about the debate. Trump lied his ass off. Biden struggled with his stutter, failed to call Trump on his lies, and was unable to finish some sentences.

Trump was able to finish his sentences, it was simply all lies.

So while Biden voters will still vote for him, the debate now shifted to whether a vote for Biden is now more like a vote for Kamala Harris.

Biden needed to convince his voters that he's going to survive the next 4 years. He failed.

Trump did not need to convince his voters he's not lying, and he did great there, lied his ass off, but it's not like that it matters to his people.

I'm hoping the DNC, and the Biden team, are sitting down, this minute, how to figure out how to ask Biden to step aside.

Shoving in a new candidate at the last minute is as much of path to defeat as the hand-wringing Democrats are crying themselves into the fantasy of pushing Biden aside (with sensitivity, of course). Biden's team performed horribly in pushing for the pageant-debate in the first place (not a Biden strength ever throughout his entire career), over-preparing him for a debate-style forum when he all he really needed was preparation to refute Cry-Baby-trump's lies, insisting on no audience and shut-off microphones creating too sterile of an environment for any speaker, and putting so much emphasis on podium placement. Additionally, the form of the event was downright stupid. The (usually respectable) moderators simply read their questions; there were no challenges to all the lies. CNN could have saved money and just projected the questions on a screen. The moderators did offer some added value by being subtle in reminding both candidates when they didn't answer the question, but that wasn't worth their salary expense.

So, now what should not be done... literally tossing Biden aside because he's no longer useful. Instead of the Biden team figuring out how get Biden to step aside, they need to reflect and critically analyze how incompetent they were and... AND... what they must do to better to elevate their already selected best candidate to advance the interests of the USA.

Biden (and his team) have a lot of repair work to do. The good news is Cry-Baby-trump isn't going anywhere either and he will provide plenty more lay-up shots for Biden to prove it's never too late recycle a loss into a win. And, in this case there really is no other viable option.

@MarkPaul This is not about treating President Biden as if he were disposable. He shepherd the country through its most existential challenge in nearly 150 years.

It's about proving to the undecided voters that he's going to be around in 4 years.

He failed.

The only path forward, is for the President to withdraw, and release his candidates. Failing to do that, will certainly result in a Convicted Felon Trump win.

@Northwest It's not about proving to undecided voters he's going to be around in 4 years. No one knows if the undecided voters or anyone else for that matter will even be around in 4 years. He did fail as we all do. Failure is something all humans do. And, those who want to push anyone who commits the crime of failure aside for a short-term thrill-rush are often disappointed when that short-term rush wears off.

Biden isn't going anywhere. Cry-Baby-trump isn't going anywhere. And, the undecided voters are just going to have to be adults and make their choice... and hopefully the right one. It's too late for any other options. Period.

It's not about certainty, it's about the odds. The President and his team, promised he's healthy and needed to prove it last night. They failed. Nothing is written in stone, but the President needs to make the first move.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Northwest The President (and his team) need to acknowledge his (and their) failure and steadfastly move forward with the proper corrections. Quitting when there is a failure or quitting on someone who has failed is really for the type of losers who have chosen Cry-Baby-trump to lead them.

Perhaps, Biden should not have run in the first place. Perhaps sane voters should have demanded another choice during the selection process. But, Biden did run and voters did select him. Trying to backtrack now at this late date because of a disappointing pageant performance is a guarantee for losing. If you watch his post-debate performances his raspy voice is gone, his focus is secure, and is cognition is obvious. It's unfortunate he had a bad event performance; there are more events to come.

Biden, his team, and the voters and other adults everywhere need to work with the reality they have access to and make it work. That is how being an adult in the real world really works. Otherwise, living inside of Cry-Baby-trump's fantasy world of pristine drinking water, 0.0% inflation, and him not calling soldiers who died for their country "suckers and losers" when he did call them that is your destiny. Make your choice wisely and don't be so damned scared of failures along the way.

@MarkPaul Our reality is that we have a country with a significant number of white, flag wavers, who don't understand the first thing about reality, economics, inflation, and politics, but think the problem is wokeness, and in Convicted Felon Trump, they see a savior

He wants to get rid of the inheritance tax for them, and they're cheering him for it, because they don't want 50% of their assets going to the woke state, when the pass.

What they don't understand is that the inheritance tax kicks in, when their estate is nearly $14M net. And at that point, a 10% tax applies, and it would have to reach $100s of Ms, before it hits 50%.

But the AC repairman in Alabama is convinced that this applies to him. And he is not willing to switch channels away from Fox, to understand the issues.

Or the SW'er who has trouble understanding that looking at a percentage of growth in the DOW, doesn't tell the full story, and what he should be looking at is actual growth (or less), to assess actual "progress" during an administration.

Those closer to the this demographics, needed to see a "healthy" president, one who can articulate why the Convicted Felon's claims are false, but was instead unable to do so.

The DNC leadership needs to have a come to Jesus sit down with the President and his team, and figure out a reasonable plan, because the current path leads to another Convicted Felon White House.

@Northwest You seem to want democracy gifted to you on a refined platter in a nice and orderly presentation with proper decorations. That's not democracy though in a society where not everyone has the same sensibilities, sensitivities, and morality of you and I. As abhorrent as those "others" are, they are part of the democracy... not all very well educated (or educated at all), many filled with grievances and bitterness that are manifested in conspiracy theories and desires for retribution. Yet, in a democracy... whether direct, representative, or electoral college oriented, they get to have their say regardless of their understanding of economics. THAT is democracy. And, the founders were well aware of those limitations of the masses that have always been present in every generation of voters and the population at large.

I can assure you, I don't want Snoozy-Loopy-Loser-Convicted Felon-Insurrectionist-Cry-Baby-trump to win. But, all of the voters wiling to vote need to determine what they want... even if their choice is not our choice. In the end, if the electoral college majority want a convicted felon in the White House that is what the people should get and it is what they deserve.

Democracy can't only be sacred when we get what we want. That is as much authoritarianism as anything Steve Bannon will be cooking up from his jail cell for Cry-Baby-trump to follow. Biden and team do need to regroup and rethink what they are doing and execute better. Based on Biden's 360-degree performance today where he has been energetic, engaged, self-aware, and on-point hopefully, this is the shot in the ass they needed to step up their game. And, voters who think the solution to an extremely poor debate performance by one candidate is to go with another candidate who can lucidly present a fantasy world that never existed and never will are already lost causes. That still leaves enough voters to convince, even with imperfect candidates who may be severely flawed, there is really only one best choice. Let's get to work.

@SandWitch I'm already relaxed. Stop stressing so much over the advantages of being a Vice President in my country. 😎

@SandWitch And, I'm just trying (perhaps too subtly for you to understand) to help you figure out for yourself you know even less and the more you (and I) realize how little you do know, the more stressed out you seem to get. And, really... is it worth it for you? Perhaps, you should check your behaviour and figure out if you are accomplishing what you really want when you could be self-teaching yourself some things about western democracy. You just might find self-development is your thing.

@SandWitch Yeah, so am I. So, you see we are both self-proclaimed messengers. I'm just trying to help teach you what you need to know. As a fellow messenger, you should favour that approach. You should be thanking me for my service.

@SandWitch I think it's pretty clear your limited education has only convinced you that you THINK you know more than you do. Let me explain it in a way you can understand. Let's say, your knowledge base comes from memes, Internet blogs, and online propaganda... just as an example... then you would have convinced yourself you know more than others. In this scenario, you do qualify as knowing more than others, but... BUT... your knowledge base is limited and flawed. So, in reality you don't really know much at all by any responsible standard of measurement.

Now, that was just an example, but I think it's pretty clear you do lack a standard of education and intellectual curiosity that fits into that example. You don't have to take my word for it. After all, I barely know you. But, if you check with your neighbours, your friends, your caregivers, etc., you will get a more balanced perspective than your self-proclaimed, "I know more than you do, so there" mentality.

I often run into people like you, who have a crazed need to place themselves in the centre of things and present themselves, through self-declaration, how knowledgeable they are. It doesn't make it real or true though. Remember, like you, I am just a messenger. It's just what I do. I only want to help and I hope this has been helpful for you.

@SandWitch You really need some help, and by that I mean counseling/mental health. You consistently argue ad nauseam for an imaginary point, refusing to see any other possible options, and you insult and harass.
