To whom it may concern

As a Pennsylvania State Corrections Officer I encourage everyone to follow this advice.

This image of a little child crying in an old fashioned outfit suggests a return to old fashion values which I think is going backwards. And that child is too little to be manhandled. Psychological studies show physical abuse is damaging to many children and teaches violence.
@Stuffy The whole point of the caption is what that kid got to teach him right from wrong is far better than what could happen to him if he's allowed to run wild. Psychologists may not agree but corrections officers would.

There’s no other context. There’s such a range of what people would consider a good learning opportunity for a young kid, especially when the punishment involves tears. If we’re talking physical punishment it’s rarely the best option. I’m not confident anyone reading this has the wisdom to figure out when it’s appropriate and when it isn’t. Best to err on the side of cautious nurturing. Hit children can grow up to be violent themselves which would get the attention of corrections officers! 👮‍♂️ That is the point you’re missing

When I worked in the IT department of our local juvenile justice detention center I wondered why there were so many kids there. So I decided to ask the probation officers what was the cause, and every single one of the 19 probation officers said it goes back to the parents. Specifically the cycle of parental neglect. As teens the parents themselves came from neglected homes, so when they left home they lacked proper parental skills themselves and had no idea how to raise kids, except to neglect them like their own parents did. This cycle goes back generations. It's very sad.

I recall replacing a computer component in a classroom by a juvenile fascinated in what I was doing. I will never forget the look of pure happiness on his face as I explained what I was doing and there was a lucrative future in it. I walked out thinking how sad it was all these kids needed was just simple attention. I suppose tough love is better than no love in their lives. These kids need help now, they're our future. Just my experience I thought I'd pass along.

Agreed. And your post says nothing about corporal punishment of any kind. Each parent should raise each child however is best for the child. The goal should be a healthy, well-adjusted, self-confident and upstanding adult when all is said and done. There are many ways to get there.

I seem a State correction officer do think juvenile's should be spanked by their probation officer when needed or more the parents right?

@anythingoes477 If Democrat policies weren't blowing up in everyone's face so badly the left wouldn't have to desperately obsess over Jan 6th.
