Woman Shoots 13-Year-Old Girl Attempting to Steal Her SUV in Chicago

A concerning incident on Chicago’s South Side has spotlighted the perilous paths some youths are taking, as a 13-year-old girl was shot as her and a 14-year-old boy were attempting to steal an SUV. The shooting occurred around 7:49 a.m. on Tuesday in the 8200-block of South Commercial Avenue, according to Chicago Police.

Reports from the scene indicate that the teenagers were confronted by the vehicle’s owner, a woman who fired her gun at the youths as they tried to take her SUV. The 13-year-old girl sustained a gunshot wound to the right side of her body and was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

Both the girl and the 14-year-old boy have been charged with attempted theft in connection with the incident.

@JimBeam I've been around firearms all my life, and even carried for work in Las Vegas.
What's up with underaged teenagers committing car jackings? Been happening a lot in the Seattle area.

@BizSuitStacy They are finding abandoned boats on the shorelines on both coasts where illegals have left them

Where I live if somebody is attempting to steal your property that's worth $5,000 or more you can use lethal force to stop them. People are really tired of criminals stealing from them. I don't think I would shoot someone for trying to steal my car but I understand the frustration with flagrant crime.
