As a nation, the American people get transformed into a group. This is caused by the ideology of nationalism. Nationalism is akin to gangsterism. You think as a mob against other mobs. As a mob organization, the US Government no longer works for Americans but uses them as constituents, a resource, either as taypayers or military soldiers, to achieve its aim to gain power over other people in the world. This has been going on ever since we became a nation in 1776 by breaking out of the gang called Great Britain headed by the King of England.

Not Americans. Safety for them is nothing. NATO is safe because it's ready to kill us all. Americans aren't NATO - they're just really fabulous workers who have no politics or conscience.

@Patriot96 There doesn't seem to be any direct connection between the American people and the US Government. Every 4 years we get to vote but the whole citizenry doesn't get to organize any change of policies. There is a massive bureaucratic structure set up to diffuse power of the people to act in an effective way.

Back in the days when the USA was formed in 1776, a handful of people cooked up a plan to run the country. Even then, they were an elite group doing the thinking, not for the people but for what they envisioned was a way to wield power as representatives of the nation. It is similar to taking advantage of the old and getting them to sign over power of attorney every four years.

@paulio I think it is a matter of safe from what? No people in the world pose a threat to Americans. The only time we were attacked was by the Japanese. They tried to take out the US Navy by bombing our warships in Hawaii. It was to prevent us from attacking them. While people have no issues with other people, nations are always at odds with one another. This is because they all vie for more powerful and venture beyond their own borders to project power.
