@Patriot96 There doesn't seem to be any direct connection between the American people and the US Government. Every 4 years we get to vote but the whole citizenry doesn't get to organize any change of policies. There is a massive bureaucratic structure set up to diffuse power of the people to act in an effective way.

Back in the days when the USA was formed in 1776, a handful of people cooked up a plan to run the country. Even then, they were an elite group doing the thinking, not for the people but for what they envisioned was a way to wield power as representatives of the nation. It is similar to taking advantage of the old and getting them to sign over power of attorney every four years.
