And just when you thought it couldn't get any sillier ...

From the guardian ...

Trump praises fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter during rally speech
Ex-president calls Hopkins’ cannibalistic Lecter ‘late, great’ while condemning ‘people who are being released into our country’

... And this is the guy you want to put in charge 🤣

No, this is the guy that America DID put in charge for 4 years. The American mentality that made that happen is really the issue that's laughable.

@swirlie everyone makes mistakes... Twice and it's unforgiveable😜
Vin53 · M
@swirlie He won due to the Electoral College loophole. Hilldawg won the popular by 2mm votes.

@Vin53 good point
@Convivial
I hear what you're saying and I totally agree with you. What I find unforgivable even the first time it happened, is the statistical fact that 51% of all Americans never even showed up to vote for a new President in 2016.

This of course means that only 49% of the American population showed up to vote.

However, 51% of that 49% who bothered to vote, voted for Trump and not Hillary.

BUT, 51% of that 49% is equal to 25% of the entire American population!

What this means is, 25% of the entire US population is all it took to put Trump into the Presidency. That's how easy it was for a fascist to take control of the USA for 4 years.

That kind of voter mentality is unconscionable and certainly unforgivable in my books.

For that reason I believe that the choosing of the US President should be taken out of the hands of the American people because the American population has proven itself to be completely incompetent to make that call, not only for America's sake, but for the sake of the rest of the world as well who then had to deal with the fallout from incompetent, apathetic Americans who were left in charge of choosing an incompetent Leader for their country.
@Vin53
He won due to the Electoral College loophole. Hilldawg won the popular by 2mm votes.

Wrong. Trump won the Presidency because only 49% of the entire American population showed up to vote.
Vin53 · M
@swirlie I believe both are correct. Not everyone who didn't vote was a democrat.
Ynotisay · M
@swirlie It was over 61 percent. But the point is taken. It should be at least 90 percent. NO reason to not vote these days. Mail in ballots make that so.
@Ynotisay
Actually, you're wrong. It was not over 61%! 🤣 You pull that one right out of your butt!

As a total population, it was 51% which includes ineligible voters.

When the numbers only include those voters who were age-eligible to vote, it was only 54.5 % who showed up to vote.
@Vin53
I believe both are correct. Not everyone who didn't vote was a democrat.

Many democrats of record voted for Trump because they couldn't imagine a female (particularly Hillary) being the President of the USA.
@swirlie 25% or so weren't old enough or eligible to vote, so your numbers are skewed

@swirlie couldn't agree more...

@independentone no mention of numbers, just percentages

@swirlie Uh...Before you slam people the way you did me, maybe you should take a breath and consider why UNREGISTERED VOTERS, which includes children, should be included in VOTER turnout. 61% of REGISTERED VOTERS turned out to vote. See how that works? But maybe it's a Canadian thing. You get to decide. Or maybe you just didn't like hearing you were wrong. That sucks.
@Ynotisay
No matter how you try to spin it, your hope-filled numbers remain of your own making.

As a total population, it was 51% which includes ineligible voters.

When the numbers only include those voters who were age-eligible to vote, it was only 54.5 % who showed up to vote.
Ynotisay · M
@swirlie OK Canuck. I'll go with the U.S. Census over you. Sorry. It's an American thing.

In 2016, 61.4 percent of the citizen voting-age population reported voting, a number not statistically different from the 61.8 percent who reported voting in 2012.

https://www.census.gov/newsroom/blogs/random-samplings/2017/05/voting_in_america.html

But just because I know how this game rolls uh....you're right. Whatever you say is right. How's that? Feel better?
@Ynotisay
I just call it like it gets reported in the real world.

You on the other hand, use right-wing news sources to provide you with the data that suits your contrived rhetoric.

Or is it your rhetoric that you adjust to support the agenda of your right-wing news sources? 🤔 ❓❓❓
@swirlie There is truth to your comment above.

HOWEVER

That was in 2016. Any reasonable, rational, and honest American who fails to recognize just how demented and dangerous Quad Indicted is to our country RIGHT NOW is beyond brainwashed and is complicit in his crimes.

It’s very telling that his own VP, his Senior Advisors, and cabinet members have seen the light.

Republicans are turning away from Putin’s Puppet in troves and it’s about time.
Ynotisay · M
@swirlie Right wing sources? Uh...you are SO far off on that one. You shot and missed there. I dig truth and facts which eliminates right wing sources from my world. Good try though.
@Ynotisay
If you're going to talk-the-talk and present yourself as the big shot who knows it all, then you gotta walk-the-walk and prove it, otherwise you'll be perceived as a fraud just like your buddy Donald Trump is after you demonstrate that you can't walk-the-talk.

You can't have it both ways, @Ynotisay!
@KunsanVeteran
You have to remember that Americans at large, do not follow American politics, not even on Election Day. That being said, it's wishful thinking for you to suggest that "Any reasonable, rational, and honest American who fails to recognize just how demented and dangerous Quad Indicted is to our country RIGHT NOW is beyond brainwashed and is complicit in his crimes".

That is what I made this statement earlier in this thread:

..For that reason I believe that the choosing of the US President should be taken out of the hands of the American people because the American population has proven itself to be completely incompetent to make that call, not only for America's sake, but for the sake of the rest of the world as well who then had to deal with the fallout from incompetent, apathetic Americans who were left in charge of choosing an incompetent Leader for their country.

Oh my god, that was well-stated! Thank you for being so candid with your thoughts!
