Good luck...you're going to need it

@HoraceGreenley The vast majority of Londoners disagree :)

I spent a week there. I also know that the UK has a very high burglary rate.
London is an easy mark for terrorism

@HoraceGreenley I've also looked at your posts, and you are no fan of anything outside the US, and specifically the MAGA cult.

@HoraceGreenley I know you're a climate-change denier as well. However, green policies win votes :)
Sadiq Khan’s win with an even bigger majority confirms the clear message from this election: bold climate and environmental action is a vote winner. Anti-green populism has largely backfired at the ballot box.
“Many of the local and mayoral candidates that stood on bold green policy platforms won resounding victories. The people of London, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool and the North East, all elected mayors and councillors who have committed to boosting public transport, delivering green growth and cutting emissions. As Labour continues its resurgence to power, the gains made in these local elections demonstrate, once again, that the British public overwhelmingly support climate action.”

@Entwistle What do you mean?

@HoraceGreenley What has this got to do with congestion charging? 🤔
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Entwistle On the grounds that over a million Londoners voted for Sadiq Khan, who is the architect of congestion charging in London . .

SW-User
@SunshineGirl It really is surprising how good the air quality is in London.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@SW-User That may be because there is more parkland in London than any other major city . . about 23% of inner London. But pollution is a really serious issue. The current policy stems directly from a child in south London who died from asthma triggered by air pollution . . the first time this had ever been recorded on a death certificate.
Adeptlinguist · M
@SunshineGirl I am astonished by the (good) air quality in Stockholm. Even though London, subjectively, is better than, say, Paris, Stockholm is on another level.

SW-User
@SunshineGirl and long may it continue
Adeptlinguist · M
@SW-User Yes - it’s a low-rise city by the sea, made up of lots of islands, so I guess that helps to clear out pollution, but it never seems as congested as London
