The Oklahoma Senate passed a bill that would make illegal immigration a state crime.

House Bill 4156 makes “impermissible occupation” a criminal act, defined as a person willfully and without permission entering and remaining in Oklahoma without first obtaining legal authorization to enter the United States, according to the bill.

If signed into law, those living in Oklahoma as illegal immigrants would be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in county jail, a fine of up to $500, or both…

The bill passed the House last week.

It's sad that states must resort to these measures because the federal gov't refuses to enforce immigration laws.

@BizSuitStacy The funding to support legal immigration and enforcement was overwhelmingly rejected by the Republican house multiple times. The federal gov't doesn't have budget authority. Congress does. If congress did its job and passed meaningful immigration law and didn't play politics and listen to Trump to not vote on it, we wouldn't be here. And where is the replacement for Obamacare? Same issue.

@Livingwell Sometime when you take a break from you hatred of Republicans, look up HR 2 and then ask upchuck schumer what he did with it
@Livingwell Been through this before with several folks here who choose to ignore reality. The executive branch already has full authority and ample budget to shut down the border. How do you explain the massive spike under Biden?

Congressional action...the red herring used to fool the tools in order to get you repeating the narrative. Nevermind the fact that Biden, in his first days in office, reversed nearly 100 of Trump's immigration EOs, and then signed nearly 200 more to make it easier for illegals to enter the country. Or the fact that his administration instructed DHS to ignore immigration law as it pertains to deportations. Damn those pesky facts.

Thanks for playing

@BizSuitStacy I'm a Republican. The gov't doesn't have the budget or personnel to handle the problem. They have said this countless times to congress. What Trump's genius idea was is to stack shipping containers along the border. Fencing that his people built have also fallen down due to workmanship. And in other cases, people just dug under the wall. What rock are you under? And Trump didn't pass 100's Or even a dozen exec orders for immigration. If you remember, the Supreme Court shot a number of those down. If you're going to build a wall, talk to Israel. At least they have experience.

@BizSuitStacy Our jails are overcrowded, and just for one example about 25% of the jailees in the Oklahoma County Jail are foreign-born. Many of them are illegals accused of serious crimes. It takes time for the trial and then the deportation to happen. So they might sit in the jail for a year or so before getting deported.

Our schools are also overcrowded and there isn’t enough affordable housing to go around even for our citizens who are working to pay rent because so many illegals are getting government vouchers to pay for their rents. Besides food stamps and other types of assistance.
@cherokeepatti but they have no issue wasting money in Ukraine.
