Biden diplomacy re:Gaza war

Prior to Iran's counterattack the other day (yes, it was in response to a provocation), I suggested that Iran's response would be easily defended, and really only serve the purpose of propaganda. It seems that many commentators agree with this assessment.

Now it is coming out that the US and other western countries were in backchannel communication with Iran - as if there was some advance discussion here on how to respond in a way that shows you are serious, without causing much damage or broadening the war. Biden's comment to Netanyahu seems quite interesting - about how Israel "won" by completely thwarting the attack. And now it seems Israel has backed down to a "threatening words" response.

If this is the case, it is a HUGE diplomatic win for the Biden administration, despite what the war hawks like John Bolton claim. It also seems like Israel is starting to take note that a continued war of this type with Gaza is not in their long-term best interest. Again, should this hold true, it will be a huge diplomatic win for the Biden administration.

This is one of those situations where the public, both the pro and anti of either "side," are playing the most basic game of checkers.

We, as the public, have access to probably 1/10th of the information that's available to leaders. Information that educates decisions and actions. So they're playing chess.

And sometimes you need to trust that the chess players know how to play. I personally believe that the Biden Administration knows how to play. So when I hear "Biden supports genocide" it's not hard to see where it's coming from.

@Ynotisay I actually see the Biden administration being far more crafty here than I would have expected.

@trollslayer Yep. That whole region is a powder keg. And history shows that American "might" isn't the answer. As messed up as it is given some of the actions of the IDF, this could turn in to an opportunity to reconfigure the dynamics moving forward. We'll see.

@Ynotisay i think many have been opened to the idea that the definition of good guys and bad guys is relative and fluid.

Fox will tell MAGAs how President Biden betrayed Israel and as a bonus, tie it to Immigration.

@sunsporter1649 I wonder what the term used was for Americans fight against the British for their own land...

So was a major diplomatic win the coalition he created against Russia in 2022, when the avg. euro politician was essentially kissing Ukraine goodbye already.

The media (absolutely none of them) will ever credit him for that.

This doesn’t seem to be the case sadly. I’ve scoured a variety of news sources and they all report variations along the lines of the Israeli war cabinet meeting to discuss a response.

Here’s hoping you’re right.

Yes, but Muslims in Michigan prefer Trump. Oh well.
