trump is just 3 weeks from becoming the first ex-president to go on trial and on prisonable offenses.

But despite all trump’s efforts to slow down simultaneously running legal clocks, there’s now a real possibility one of the candidates on the presidential ballot could be a convicted felon.

I don’t think right now is a good time to convict him. It would cause a serious uprising and a feeling of a political act against him.

@specman If we are a nation of laws and believe no one is above the law, then now is the perfect time to convict him of his crimes. To do anything else would be a travesty of justice, especially if the excuse is that his Cult will become violent or won't accept the result.

@specman I disagree. internally, failing to convict and punish him sends a message to all Americans that the political and judicial systems are both broken. While politics ahd been stinking to high heaven for a while now, some still have faith in the courts..
And on the world stage, make no mistake governments are watching to see if America can manage its own affairs and be trusted..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman they see weakness projected under Biden right now

@specman If that is your belief, do you think that puts Trump above the law? Should he get a free pass for any crimes he has committed because he threatens bloodbaths and violence if convicted?

@windinhishair I think the whole mess is unfortunate for the 🇺🇸. It has caused the possibility of the losing faith in the judicial system and played havoc on our political parties.

@Vin53 yes any crimes committed need to be addressed, not just the crimes he might have done but for everyone. I still will vote Trump because he is in my mind the best candidate we have to choose from. I know there are those that dislike him for one way or another and I wish they would vote for someone besides Biden. They don’t have to vote for Trump, but anyone besides Biden. My loyalty ain’t to Trump it’s to get America to turn from the path it is on. You probably don’t agree with my opinion and that’s ok. Everyone is entitled to have their opinion.

@Vin53 Sadly, when Trump does pass away, his passing will result in great joy throughout the world. What a terrible legacy to leave.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@specman I agree that the whole mess is "unfortunate", but it is deliberate on the part of Trump. He has personally caused great and lasting damage to the nation. Holding him accountable for his crimes finally is only a starting point for recovery.
specman · 51-55, M
@windinhishair he has been targeted. There are many others that committed those crimes. Except for the incident on J6. They will have a hard time pinning him with that. I believe his speech to them did lead them to the riot. But he covered his bases by telling them to be peaceful.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@specman No, he hasn't been targeted. If anything he hasn't been charged with enough. He has committed multiple crimes, and has done so his entire life. In the past, he has been able to get out of any consequences. This time he will not. Why anyone would desire a criminal like Trump to be president after seeing the crimes he has committed is unfathomable.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@specman he has gotten so much special treatment. If that was anyone else, they would be in jail by now. I don’t even know how anyone can even think it’s a “witch hunt”! He’ll probably get off on all charges!

@LeopoldBloom they should’ve done it sooner. If they do it now it would cause a catastrophe in America.

@specman Trials take time to prepare evidence for. The length of time spent getting everything together isn't unusual. What is unusual is having a president who engaged in so many crimes before, during, and after his failed presidency. Don't vote for someone who is a criminal if you can't deal with the consequences.
specman · 51-55, M
@Diotrephes that’s exactly what I’m talking about him being targeted! The Democrats who are soft on crime all of a sudden get tough on the one that they fear the most. Thanks for proving my point.
specman · 51-55, M
@windinhishair the question is if the US can handle the repercussions of a conviction.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@specman can we handle the repercussions if not?

@specman chuckled at that! Like any of us know for sure either way. Lol
