Why do Republicans want “Civics” classes to replace “Social Studies” classes in schools?

Republicans hate all things civic-minded after all, it’s not like one of those subjects ought to be more friendly territory for right wingers than the other.

Because uneducated conservatives get social studies confused with gender studies. When anyone born after the year 1993 can tell you that American schools use the word “social studies” informally with “general history” and that the content is the same.

@QueenOfZaun Growing up around that time, I always sorta thought it mean "other shit" apart from language arts, math and science. Like, history, but also political science. I think whether republicans win or loose in calling that "civics" is like a non-issue.
