Why do Republicans want “Civics” classes to replace “Social Studies” classes in schools?

Republicans hate all things civic-minded after all, it’s not like one of those subjects ought to be more friendly territory for right wingers than the other.

They want the civics classes to teach only what they believe in. Like everything else they want people to only do what they want and to obey everything they say.

@Captainjackass Yeah, to answer my own question, I think they think civics is about government and an originalist interpretation of the Constitution and how our perfect founding fathers created the electoral college to ensure that white farmers could always choose the president, etc., etc. And I think they think social studies, by contrast, focuses more on learning about other cultures, enlightened Europeans and poor and non-white people.

But isn’t it ironic though that they want “civics” classes when they hate “wokeism” and anything that forces you to stop and consider how what you’re doing might affect your neighbors?

@Theyitis to be fair most of them never made it to high school and don’t understand what social studies is.

@Theyitis This really gives away your prog , Howard Zinn bias. Why don't you read the Federalist Papers and see what they considered the issues. You happen to be lucky enough to live in the world's OLDEST republic and you are at pains to denigrate it.
