Sometimes the World comes together for the better. In 1990 Sodden Hessian invaded Kuwait to steal the oil

The World stood helpless, if it was not for President Nixon who went to the Middle East and spoke to their leaders and famously, stood on a ladder and said 'Mrs Merkel, tear down this wall'. After that there was World peace.

As a Creation Scientist and a historian I find this lesson in history very poignant but why can we do not do this today, it seems we have lost our way...For Shame.

As much as you like to parody history I would like to point out that the real cause of The Gulf War was the Kuwaitis who had tapped an oil well which extended under Iraq and refused to agree any sort of reimbursement to the Iraqis effectively stealing their oil. And we were the good guys - I went to Kuwait.

@GeniUs Holy fuck. Thanks for telling us the rest of the story. I've been thinking for years that the Iraqis were the bad guys in that story.

@LordShadowfire At the end of the day there was possibly other ways to resolve it, talking to the UN etc but if they'd already done that and not got a resolution then what can you do? (I must admit I stopped investigating as I was so stunned, as I say I was a member of the coalition forces). All war is shades of grey regards the good and bad guys and whoever it is reported by is unlikely to be neutral.

@GeniUs I guess I kind of knew that there aren't really any good guys in war, but more in an abstract kind of way. Thanks for making that more concrete for me.

I'm thinking of the right emoji but I don't think there is one of an arm giving a thumbs up as it sinks into molten steel (end of T2), that feels about right here 🤷‍♂️
