Does anyone actually believe California will leave the United States?

What then? How will it run and defend itself? Will it be a socialist or communist country?
Coppercoil · M
Lol.. you want to know who won't let California leave the union.. the Democrats cause it would put the US under republican rule for the next 50 years. The dems need califirnia. Clinton only got the popular vote cause of California. California isn't going anywhere. It's a pipe dream. I'm in California. There tried to break the state up too and the power brokers won't let it happen. California gets two senators just like Rhode islanf.. lol its a shit show.

Some doomsday nuts believe it will fall in the pacific. I don't believe it will leave the states. It's the largest state so far area wise and many major Industries are located in there.

Alaska @Katielass:

@ragingfire: Texas. google it

It says Alaska. With math. It's 2.5 times larger than Texas.

Actually, if California left, the US would be very very hurt. California's economy is huge. I'm talking gigantic. California's economy is better than many other developed countries. Yes, they beat out entire nations.
katielass · F
That must be why half the cities close to bankruptcy are located in Calif.

Look it up
katielass · F
I have. What's more I know what I'm reading.

no, would be near impossible. I think it may only be Texas that has it written in when it was independent from Mexico that it has the 'authority' to withdraw from the union. They also are on their own power gird, but that would never happen either.
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
Actually I think Texas has it set up so that it could dissolve itself into 5 smaller states if it wanted too. They tried the whole withdrawal from the Union thing, it didn't work out.

Of course not. How self-sustaining is California as a country unto itself? It would be intrinsically dependent on the US, enough so to render it effectively a state, so why not simply leave things the way they are?
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
Naw, states say these things sometimes these days. Texas, California, Alaska do it the most. Really though, it's quite a bit more profitable to be in the United States than out of it.
SW-User
Physically, it eventually will. Otherwise I doubt it.
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
The tectonic plate that CA sits on is actually pushing into the rest of the continent.
SW-User
No, it would be too much effort and not profitable
katielass · F
The only state that actually has the right to secede is Texas. Of course, I don't think anyone would complain if calif. wanted to. I mean really, not a problem.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
LOL. You do know that California is probably the most economically important state in the union. Aside from anything else, it has virtually your entire tech industry.
katielass · F
@Burnley123: No it isn't and no it doesn't.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
California has the biggest economy of any US state:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_between_U.S._states_and_countries_by_GDP_(nominal)

It is also the dominant state in the tech industry, and it is a growth industry.

California was a leading state for 12 of the 16 technology industry clusters

Why bother commenting on something you don't know about? At least look it up first.

The way trumps sucking up to a communist leader, California is less of a worry.
SW-User
Which communist leader?
SW-User
No. if they did other states might follow and the US would collapse.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
In answer to your questions:

No, no, no and no.
sadie210 · F
it'll be a bankrupt country
