Prime Minister Trudeau is a stupid idiot

So you're saying that he should have ignored the evidence that the Indian government ordered the assassination of a political dissident, who at that point was a Canadian citizen, on Canadian soil?

Two reasons:

1) The precedent that doing nothing would set. A foreign country (ostensibly an ally) orders the murder of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil. To do nothing would be subservient to the Modi regime.

2) The guy has spent his time as a figure of Sikh resistance against Modi's authoritarian Hindu regime. I'm not making a big leap to assume that you don't care about this issue but maybe you should. If you agree with religious toleration, freedom from persecution and free speech: then taking a stand against this would be a no-brainer.

It depends on whether there is credible evidence on India's culpability. I haven't see evidence either way, so I don't know personally, but the action is so strong that there had better be iron-clad evidence.

I think he is pretty courageous in standing up for justice and human rights irrespective of the diplomatic and political risks.
