Two reasons:
1) The precedent that doing nothing would set. A foreign country (ostensibly an ally) orders the murder of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil. To do nothing would be subservient to the Modi regime.
2) The guy has spent his time as a figure of Sikh resistance against Modi's authoritarian Hindu regime. I'm not making a big leap to assume that you don't care about this issue but maybe you should. If you agree with religious toleration, freedom from persecution and free speech: then taking a stand against this would be a no-brainer.

@Burnley123 I guess it's how he did it. If you know about Trudeau you know he acts like a kid seeking attention. So you can be sure he did not handle it well
