I don't think it’s necessarily that they trust Trump more, although many do. I think it’s mostly that Trump supporters want the best of both worlds; they want to be as entitled, as ugly, as exclusive as they want but they also want to say things like “We can agree to disagree” and “We all have to get along,” all the while supporting the erosion of rights for anyone not them.
And in that way, I guess they do place their faith in something other than family, friendship and affiliation. People would do well to remember what they’re trading away for the right to be an Ugly American.
