Whose right to "Stand Your Ground" takes precedence?
"Texas has one of the strongest 'Stand Your Ground' laws of self-defense that cannot be nullified by a jury or a progressive District Attorney," Abbott said in a tweet. “I will work as swiftly as Texas law allows regarding the pardon of Sgt. Perry.” . . . .

Perry, an Army sergeant, was working as an Uber driver in Austin on the night of July 25, 2020, when he ran a red light at an intersection downtown and drove into a Black Lives Matter march before stopping.

Garrett Foster, carrying an AK-47 rifle, was among a group of protesters who approached his car. Perry told police that Foster threatened him by raising the barrel of his rifle at him, so he shot him five times with a .357 revolver through the window of his car before driving away.
If someone runs a redlight to ram their car into you, aren't you standing your ground by raising your AR-15?

that makes no sense

perry was the aggressor

aggressors don't get stand your ground

I know in Florida had Foster shot and killed him to protect others he would have walked.

@Pretzel Even when it was a BLM demonstration?

@dancingtongue even if it was pedophile nazil lovers who kill puppies on christmas morning

@Pretzel Not to mention, 5 times with .357 isn't trying to defend yourself, it's making sure a mofo is dead. If it was five times with a .25 or .32, K maybe. But a .357 at close range? Nahhhhh

@MethDozer well that isn't so much a factor for me - I'm not informed on military training but he may very well have been trained to empty ai firearm when he started shooting

@Pretzel Just sayin', it kinda implies some mentality and intent.
I'm pretty pro right to own but I'm with you. He made the initial threat running a red light into people. He knew what he was doing.

Love how the douche nozzle politician feels him being retired military matters one way or the other and has to signal with the Sgt. Perry BS. Like that matters at all.

@MethDozer I mean if it had been a 30 round magazine I'd be agreeing but in the heat of having a high powered assault rifle pointed at you ...I'd have no issue with a person pulling the trigger even after it went "click click click click"

but we agree the issue isn't the number of rounds it was his initial assault with a deadly weapon (his vehicle) into a crowd of presumably not armed (or not pointing a weapon at him) in the first place.

@Pretzel I hear ya, but still kinda disagree. Especially a military trained individual should understand trigger discipline and putting others at risk through overkilling.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@Pretzel there are no high powered assault rifles
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@MasterLee thanks for the clarification
