I think it is animal abuse to not provide your cat or dog with meat.
An individual can make whatever choice they wish for themselves but not for their pet.

@BabyLonia Cats can be healthy on a vegan diet, although it's more complicated than with a more standard omnivorous diet. There's relatively little research on the subject.

I'm sympathetic towards people who feed their cats meat; hell, my parents do it. But I don't think it makes sense to leave the decision to the cats, since the cats do not and cannot know the moral implications of the food that they're eating.
